  • Publication number: 20140130274
Abstract: A refill head for an oral care implement, such as a toothbrush, wherein the refill head utilizes a specially designed structure for coupling the refill head to an oral care implement handle that ensures proper alignment and simplifies the loading and unloading of the refill head to the oral care implement handle. In one embodiment, the refill head comprises a tubular sleeve forming a cavity and first and second upper cam surfaces that form shoulders within the cavity. The first and second upper cam surfaces are separated by first and second axial slots of different configurations that prevent loading of the refill head onto the oral care implement handle in an improper rotational orientation through interaction with first and second bosses on the oral care implement handle.

  • Patent number: 6024967
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for shaping a top surface of a product, such as an antiperspirant or deodorant product, to have a compound-curved shape. The apparatus includes at least one cutting blade which moves inward and outward in a second direction while the product passes by in a first direction perpendicular to the second direction, such that the cutting blade cuts the top surface of the product to have a desired profile in the first direction. The cutting blade itself can have a desired profile along a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions, to impart to the top surface of the product a desired profile in the third direction. A plurality of cutting blades can be used, to incrementally remove product material to form a final shaped product surface. The product cut off in forming the shaped surface can be reclaimed for re-use.

  • Patent number: 5697531
Abstract: Described is a dispensing package for a flowable viscous product which can relieve residual pressure on the product in the package, so as to avoid product weeping out of the package. The package uses an elevator to force product out of the package, the elevator including resilient structure to spring-bias the elevator in a direction away from the product outlet of the package. After dispensing the desired amount of product, this spring bias retracts the elevator so as to relieve residual pressure. Also described is structure for moving the elevator which provides both axial movement and reciprocating axial movement, without creating difficulty for the consumer to cause elevator movement between the first and second portions.

  • Patent number: 5496122
Abstract: Disclosed is a package for a solid stick product (e.g., antiperspirant or deodorant product), wherein the product is completely exposed on a retaining member so as not to require an elevating mechanism. The package has three components: a cover, the retaining member and a handle. The handle is removably connected to the retaining member, so that upon using up the product on the retaining member the handle can be removed and attached to another retaining member filled with product (which is, e.g., sold as a refill assembly). Molten product is filled through a fill hole in the retaining member into a cavity defined between the retaining member and cover; the retaining member has bosses for anchoring the product on the retaining member, and has vent channels extending between the bosses and the fill hole to displace trapped air from the bosses when filling the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5275496
Abstract: A package for a stick product, such as an antiperspirant stick, comprises a barrel for containing the stick, the barrel having an opening through which the stick can be exposed for use, and a product support member for supporting the end of the stick product opposite the end of the stick which is to be exposed. The support member is movable for adjusting the amount of the stick product which is exposed for use through the barrel opening. An applicator surface is provided about the periphery of the opening of the barrel for application and rubbing in of a visible amount of product. The package, including the applicator surface, allows the consumer to rub the product in while avoiding contacting the underarm with the relatively narrow edge of the barrel. The quantity of product being applied can also be accurately controlled using the package.

Abstract: A sealing cap, particularly for sealing against a non-circular sealing surface about an opening of a container (such as a wide roller type roll-on container), wherein the sealing gap includes a closure, a sealing member in the form of a non-circular gasket arranged within the closure for sealing against the non-circular sealing surface of the container, and an alignment disk in the closure for aligning the sealing gasket with the non-circular sealing surface during relative rotation of the sealing cap and container. The alignment disk and sealing gasket are rotatably supported within the closure. The alignment disk includes a non-cylindrical well for receiving the non-circular sealing surface of the container and a pair of opposed inclined surfaces for aligning the sealing gasket with the non-circular sealing surface during relative rotation of the container with the sealing cap. The alignment disc can be used in other appliccations than in a sealing cap, e.g.
