  • Patent number: 11931218
Abstract: An oral care implement body to which a replacement head can be detachably coupled. In one embodiment, the oral care implement body includes a gripping portion having a shoulder, a stem extending from the shoulder along a longitudinal axis, and a boss protruding from an outer surface of the stem. The boss may have a locking rib section having an undercut surface that is axially spaced from the shoulder and a positioning rib section extending from the locking rib section to the shoulder. The undercut surface may circumferentially protrude from a first side surface of the positioning rib section. The locking rib section may extend along a first rib axis and the positioning rib section may extend along a second rib axis, the first rib axis oriented obliquely to the second rib axis.

  • Patent number: 7386904
Abstract: A drive system for imparting motion to a treating implement such as a toothbrush or the like includes a cam rotatably driven around an axis of rotation by a motor. The cam has a closed loop cam track eccentric to the axis of rotation. A control member is disposed between the cam and the treating implement head. The control member has a control slot extending completely through the control member. A pivot member is located between the control member and the treating implement head. The drive system further includes a drive shaft with its drive end freely mounted in the cam track. The drive shaft extends through the control slot and through the pivot member with its driven end operatively connected to the drive connection of the implement head. As a result, when the cam member is rotated the direction of movement of the drive shaft is controlled by the drive shaft being confined for sliding movement in the control slot. The drive shaft is still capable of rotating because of its free mounting in the cam track.

  • Patent number: 7117555
Abstract: The present invention relates to a powered toothbrush with two moving bristle bearing parts, the first such part is disc-shaped and rotates or oscillates back-and-forth, the second such part is coupled to the brush head by an elastomeric material, such that the second section can be moved either by the force of brushing or by selective engagement with the drive mechanism of the toothbrush.

  • Patent number: 7065821
Abstract: A powered toothbrush provides movement of cleaning elements which replicate the preferred method of cleaning teeth, namely up-and-down movement on the surface of the user's teeth. This preferred movement is obtained by translating rotational movement of a motor, first into reciprocation movement within the toothbrush through the interaction of a cam follower and helical tracks, and then translation of the reciprocating movement into oscillating movement of the cleaning elements through a limited arc. The translation of rotational to reciprocating movement is achieved through interaction of a cam follower in a helical track. The translation of reciprocating movement to oscillating movement is achieved through reciprocating movement of a volute through a mating groove in the head of the toothbrush.

  • Patent number: 6889401
Abstract: The head of a toothbrush includes a tuft block having bristles wherein the tuft block is moved in a direction parallel to the outer surface of the head. A second tuft block having bristles is a vibrating section which is moved in and out in a direction perpendicular to the outer surface of the head. If desired, the head may also include a fixed section with fixed bristles. The movement of the first tuft block may be an oscillating rotational movement.
