  • Publication number: 20240156457
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a hand-held surgical device, operable by a single user, for deploying fasteners to close a wound or incision in tissue. The device includes tissue pinching and folding members operably controlled by the user during actuation of a trigger of the device, which can temporarily secure and expose inner surfaces of two edges of an incision or wound, where one of a plurality of fasteners can be inserted upon further actuation of the trigger, without crushing or causing undue trauma to the tissue.

  • Publication number: 20240110487
Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes a turbine section that has a retainer ring, a first vane that bears against the retainer ring to prevent movement of the first vane in a first axial direction, a second vane axially spaced from the first vane, and a blade axially between the first vane and the second vane. A blade outer air seal is situated radially outwardly of the blade. The blade outer air seal includes a ceramic matrix composite body that defines a core gaspath side that faces the blade, a forward end, an aft end, and circumferential sides. There is a spring seal at the aft end of the blade outer air seal that seals against the second vane. The spring seal provides a preload that biases the blade outer air seal against the first vane and thereby biases the first vane against the retainer ring.

  • Publication number: 20240110488
Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes a turbine section that has a ceramic matrix composite body that defines a core gaspath side that a row of blades, a forward end, an aft end, and circumferential sides. The forward end abuts at least one vane of a first row of vanes, and the aft end including a seal channel. A compliant seal is disposed in the seal channel and seals against at least one vane of a second row of vanes.

  • Publication number: 20100009335
Abstract: Described herein are environmentally isolated tissue culture devices that may be used for cell culture, as well as systems including these devices and methods for using them. These devices may include control features for regulating the micro-environment within a well or wells of the device. For example, on-board features may regulate the temperature, humidity, pH, media level, media composition, CO2/O2/N2 levels, drug concentration, cell density, byproduct (or product) production, and mixing of materials within the chamber. Material may be added to or withdrawn from the wells of the device without opening the device. Also described herein are controllers for analyzing and controlling the micro- environment within the well. Thus, the plates described herein may be used without requiring a separate incubator, allowing cells to be analyzed (e.g., imaged) continuously, allowing real-time reactions while monitoring under a microscope for hours, days or even weeks.

  • Publication number: 20090260458
Abstract: The invention is directed to systems and methods for transferring nano-quantities of fluid samples using a high throughput or ultra high throughput dispenser. Such samples may be transferred from a first location and reformatted for being transferred to a second location. The invention may transfer a predetermined volume of sample quickly and accurately.
