    Abstract: A mounting mechanism is provided for aligning and securing an optical instrument to a platform. The mechanism includes a housing, a trunnion and a base-plate. The housing receives the optical instrument along a longitudinal axis. The housing includes an attach support for the optical instrument, and an interface having vertically-facing cylindrical-fastener orifices. The trunnion supports the housing at the interface. The trunnion has pluralities of vertical slots and horizontal slots. Each vertical slot overlaps a corresponding vertical orifice. The vertical slots provide elevation displacement to vertically translate and pitch the housing. The horizontal slots provide lateral displacement to horizontally translate and yaw the housing. The base-plate supports the trunnion and is mountable onto the platform. The base-plate has a plurality of horizontally-facing cylindrical-fastener orifices. Each horizontal slot on the trunnion overlaps a corresponding horizontal orifice on the base-plate.

    Abstract: A battery assembly is provided for electrical concatenation in series. The battery assembly includes a plurality of battery packs; a switch; a receiver; and an actuator. Each battery pack includes a plurality of rechargeable battery cells electrically connected in series. The switch electrically connects and disconnects first and second battery packs together. The receiver transmits power from the switch. The actuator operates the switch to connect and disconnect the battery packs. In preferred embodiments, the switch includes first and second buses and a deflector. The first bus electrically contacts the first battery pack. The second bus electrically contacts the second battery pack. The deflector moves the first bus electrically connect and disconnect with the second bus in response to communication with the actuator. An electrical connector is further provided for mechanical engagement and disengagement of electrical conduction to a terminal. The connector includes a block and a plurality of contacts.

The battery assemblies are removably mounted to the switching mechanism. The switching mechanism has a non-energized position in which the battery assemblies are electrically disconnected from the switching mechanism. The switching mechanism also has an energized position in which the battery assemblies are electrically connected to the switching mechanism. The actuating mechanism is connected to the switching mechanism, and switches the switching mechanism between the non-energized and the energized positions. The actuating mechanism preferably is activated remotely, improving personnel safety. The number and make-up of the battery assemblies may be varied to provide for different voltages.

    Abstract: Improved collapsible roll or spin-stabilizing fin subassembly means of reively lightweight molded construction for missile means and the like that is generally made up of base or hub means, a series of four interconnecting fork means and a series of four fin means. The base means is suitably affixed in concentric fashion to the trailing end of the missile means. Each one of the interconnecting means is hingedly connected to its associated radially aligned bifurcated means of the series of four bifurcated means. At the same time, each fork means is biasingly interconnected to its associated bifurcated means so that any fork means is biasingly urged in a trailing or rearward direction, once the missile means is launched, to an outward and inward extended partially rotated position as limited by stop means provided on the base means.

The system is generally made up of elongated sleeve means being closed at one end and also having an aerodynamic profile as required. Depending upon the requirements of the system, it can be provided with external or internal control means. The system is generally comprised of selectively programmable motor-driven, feed-screw propelling means. The propelling means is arranged within the sleeve means such that the propelling means when in a retracted position provides a chamber for receiving one or more elements to be temporarily stored in nested but axially aligned relation to each other until selectively dispensed.

    Abstract: A locking bolt assembly that prevents the release of loose parts in the event of bolt failure. A bolt having a head and threaded main body portion is provided with a central bore through the head and main body portion. The central bore has a necked down area adjacent the end of the main body portion away from the head. A plurality of slots along the end of the main body portion in communication with the central bore form bolt fingers around the necked down area. A plunger slidably received in the central bore places radial pressure at the necked down area to expand the bolt fingers outwardly and lock the bolt in its installed position without changing the preload of the installed bolt. The plunger is retained in its bolt locking position and prevents the release of loose parts in the event of bolt failure.
