  • Publication number: 20070277668
Abstract: Electromagnetic gun with a cavity extending through its barrel, two power rails with cavity surface their length, a plurality of wall (conductor) coils circumscribing and orthogonal the cavity, distributed its length with contact means at the cavity on one end a bus common to all wall coils on the other. Projectiles for traversing said cavity, having a propulsion bus coil with continuity at one end with one power rail and its other with the second power rail. A projectile forward current shunt for continuity between one power rail and forward wall coil's contact means and aft current shunt for continuity between the second power rail and aft wall coils contact means. Magnetic fields of forward and aft wall conductor coils interact with propulsion bus coil current propelling projectile in barrel towards muzzle. The above combination wherein the projectile includes propellant ignited by a bursting bridge.

  • Publication number: 20070056572
Abstract: Electromagnetic propulsion devices having a barrel with a cavity its length, armatures for said cavity with a propulsion bus in and circumscribing said armature's body, orthogonal the axis thereof with power rail continuity on one end and propulsion bus-aft shunt circuit means continuity the other and an array of wall conductors orthogonal and circumscribing most of said barrel's cavity and distributed between said cavity's ends with contact means at the cavity at one end and a bus common to all wall conductors at the other and an armature forward shunt directs current between a power rail and forward wall conductors and an armature aft current shunt directs current between said circuit means and aft wall conductors and wherein the magnetic fields of current in the barrel wall conductors immediately before and immediately aft the armature's propulsion bus interact with the current therein creating forces propelling the armature through said cavity.

  • Publication number: 20060288853
Abstract: Narrow collateral cavity electromagnetic guns with two wall conductor assemblies with a divide plane proximal barrel bus and array of wall conductors extending therefrom to contact means proximal the half cavity's narrow wall in each collateral cavity half, like potential power rails at the narrow walls and a midline power rail in a wall there between. Each collateral half of projectiles for use therein have: a propulsion bus orthogonal the cavity's axis continuous the said midline power rail at one end and propulsion bus-aft shunt current bus the other, and forward and aft current shunts on both sides of the projectile's collateral halves. Projectile's current buses co-act with said assembles, shunts and power rails circulating the gun's current around both sides of the propulsion buses and the magnet fields of said circuit interact with the propulsion buses' currents creating forces therein propelling the projectile through the barrel cavity.

  • Publication number: 20060162536
Abstract: Narrow cavity rail guns with: a power rail proximal each edge, a wall conductor assembly in each cavity wall there between with barrel bus at one rail and extending therefrom to distal contact means at the cavity, an array of parallel, spaced, cavity orthogonal wall conductors. Armatures for use therein have: a propulsion bus orthogonal the cavity axis with continuity the barrel buses proximal power rail at one end and the propulsion bus-aft shunt circuit means the other, and at the second power rail, a forward current shunt with continuity said contact means and said power rail, and an aft current shunt with continuity said contact means and propulsion bus-aft shunt circuit means. Armature shunts via the wall conductor assembles and said circuit means circulate the device's current around the armature propulsion bus during cavity traverse and its magnetic fields interact with the propulsion bus current propelling the armature.

  • Publication number: 20050155487
Abstract: Electromagnetic propulsion device as a gun or reversible electric motor having a barrel with a cavity extending its length, an armature in said cavity with a permanent magnetic or energized propulsion bus coil, a plurality of wall conductors orthogonal and circumscribing the cavity distributed between the cavity ends with contact means at the cavity on one end and a bus common with all wall conductors on the other and wherein the magnetic fields of the barrel wall conductor coils immediately before and after the magnetic field source in an armature interacts therewith effecting armature motion. Forward and aft armature current shunts direct current from barrel rails to and from the armature coil with associated propulsion bus-aft shunt circuit means, when extant, and to and from said armature propelling wall conductors via said contacts.
