  • Patent number: 6849984
Abstract: The radial/rotary propulsion system of the present invention features a flywheel having concentric rings of permanent magnets attached to one or both sides. These permanent magnets interact with DC powered electromagnets which, when selectively energized, impart rotary motion to the flywheel. By arranging the permanent magnets in concentric rings, better control of both speed and torques may be obtained. In addition, in a regenerative mode, inertia of the flywheel is reconverted to electrical energy by either additional permanent magnet/coil combinations or through the switching of the electromagnet coils normally used for rotating the flywheel. In alternated embodiments, regeneration is accomplished with alternators interacting with other magnets of the flywheel. The regenerative mode is also helpful in braking the flywheel as its inertial energy is converted to electrical energy.

  • Patent number: 6746005
Abstract: A “passive-active” mount includes an emanator-securement plate, a foundation-securement plate, at least one elastomeric “streamlined resilient element,” and at least one collocated motion sensor-vibratory actuator pair. The mount brings to bear, sequentially and complementarily, passive vibration control followed by active vibration as control. The passive vibration control is effectuated by one or more “streamlined resilient elements,” each attributed with a “constant natural frequency” (CNF) property whereby such element is naturally predisposed to passively reducing vibration at a particular frequency band regardless of the extent of the loading, within certain limits, to which such element is being subjected.

  • Patent number: 6587464
Abstract: A method and system for partial reporting of missing sequence numbered information frames within a telecommunication system using selective reject (SREJ) frames. Upon receiving a sequence numbered information frame from a transmit terminal, a receive terminal determines if it is out of sequence. If the sequence numbered information frame is out of sequence, the receive terminal further checks the sequence numbered information frame to see if a poll bit has been set. If the poll bit is not set, the receive terminal further checks to see if the sequence numbered information frame is new or retransmitted. If the sequence numbered information frame is new, a list of missing sequence numbers is constructed beginning with the missing sequence number one greater than the largest number in the receive queue and ending with N(S)−1.

Date of Patent: July 1, 2003

If the poll bit is not set, the sequence numbered information frame further checks to see if the sequence numbered information frame is new or retransmitted. If the sequence numbered information frame is new, a list of missing sequence numbers is constructed in ascending sequential order beginning with the missing sequence number one greater than the largest number in the receive queue and ending with N(S)−1.

  • Patent number: 5711008
Abstract: A cellular packet data arrangement includes an interface unit (NIU) to a packet data network and link interface units (LIUs) each providing a channel to a respective radio transceivers for communicating data packets with mobile terminals each having an individual identifier (TEI). Each LIU stores the TEI, channel number, and protocol data for communications with each mobile terminal handled by the LIU. In response to a first LIU receiving a communication from a mobile terminal whose communications have previously been on a channel handled by a second LIU, this is identified from the mobile terminal's TEI not being stored in the first LIU and being stored in the NIU in respect of the second LIU, and the protocol data for the mobile terminal is transferred from the second to the first LIU. To avoid a possible error condition, the first LIU can suppress a reply to the communication from the mobile terminal until this is resent.

  • Patent number: 4739907
Abstract: A cylindrical developer storage and dispensing cartridge with a dispensing opening at one end has an integral developer transport mixing and antibridging member rotatably supported within the container which has a first coiled spring element having a cross section substantially the same as the cross section of the container and freely rotatable therein which is wound in the direction to transport developer along its length toward the dispensing opening and a second coiled spring element having a cross section substantially smaller than the first spring element but being substantially concentrically positioned and being attached to the first element but wound in a direction opposite to the first spring element to provide a counter rotating motion relative to the first spring element.
