  • Patent number: 6572374
Abstract: A dental bonding formulation provides a single application step in which a chelating agent present within the formulation is capable of complexing ions present in a dentinal tubule calcified deposit. The formulation has a pH of between 1.2 and 4 to promote complexation without inducing excessive dentin etch. A curable resin is also present in the formulation to seal the underlying dentin surface.

  • Patent number: 6494717
Abstract: The present invention provides a calcified tissue facing preparation characterized by having a polymerizable resin, and an antimicrobial agent of formula (I) where R1 is a hydrocarbon radical having between 1 and 16 carbon atoms, n is an integer between 1 and 8 inclusive and X is a halogen atom selected from fluorine, chlorine or bromine. It is appreciated that R1 includes unsaturated hydrocarbon radicals, as well as heteroatom containing radicals. Preferably, the molecule of formula (I) is associated with an adduct species. A solvent and the complementary spectrum antimicrobial benzalkonium chloride are also optionally added. An antimicrobial oral rinse excluding the polymerizable resin contains at least 0.2% by weight of the antimicrobial agent.

  • Patent number: 6450808
Abstract: A dental impression tray having a pair of spaced and outwardly flared sidewalls with a layer of material, such as gauze, netting, plastic or the like, or a rigid material, extending perpendicularly between the sidewalls. The sidewalls, furthermore, are dimensioned to extend substantially a one-half arch of a dental occlusion. The layer of material, however, extends outwardly from one end of the sidewalls so that the layer extends substantially a three-quarters of an arch of a dental occlusion. The dental impression tray is easily convertible between a one-half arch and a three-quarters arch of a dental occlusion by selectively removing the outwardly extending portion of the layer material. Additionally, a frame connects the sidewalls together while a notch in the frame enables the sidewalls to deflect upon occlusion and remain in a deflected position. Optionally, the sidewalls are eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6395802
Abstract: A dental composite is disclosed which is made of a light curable material containing filler particles suspended in the light curable material. The filler particles are formed from material that has been previously cured and then reduced in size, preferably by grinding, to a predetermined range of particle sizes.

  • Publication number: 20020009693
Abstract: A dental restoration solution for root or dentinal tubule treatment includes an orally compatible solvent at a pH of between 1.2 and 4 containing a chelating agent present from 1 weight percent to saturation. Such a dental restoration solution is operative to condition a dental root or opening a dentinal tubule for subsequent dental bonding absent etching of dentin surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6274644
Abstract: A dental composite is disclosed which is made of a light curable material containing filler particles suspended in the light or otherwise curable material. The filler particles are formed from material that has been previously cured and then reduced in size, preferably by grinding, to a predetermined range of particle sizes.

  • Patent number: 4619610
Abstract: The present invention provides a dental impression tray having a pair of spaced side walls which form a channel therebetween. A layer of wax or thermoplastic material extends between and rigidly secures the sidewalls together and divides the channel into a first and second subchannel. The first subchannel is adapted to receive a setable impression material, such as silicone, for making a dental impression.

  • Patent number: 4382788
Abstract: A working well is provided for use during root canal therapy and comprises a base with a closed annular side wall and an elongated stem secured to and extending vertically upwardly from the base. A holder for a plurality of dental implements, such as broaches, is attached to the upper end of the side wall so that the implements depend downwardly from the holder. A slide assembly is vertically slidably mounted to the stem and has a stop member with an abutment surface secured to its lower end. The stop member limits the downward extension of the dental implements from the holder. A locking wheel selectively locks the slide assembly against further vertical movement along the stem.

  • Patent number: 4353694
Abstract: A novel dental kit is provided which contains all of the necessary implements, instruments, medicaments and supplies for performing root canal therapy. The kit comprises a housing having a pair of spaced rails for supporting a plurality of hand held dental instruments in an openly accessible position. In addition, a plurality of holder assemblies are mounted to the housing and each holder assembly contains a single type of tooth working implements and maintains them in an openly accessible position. Preferably two reservoirs are formed in the housing, one for holding a sterile liquid, such as alcohol and the other for holding an irrigatory fluid. A pump is also mounted to the housing for pumping the sterile fluid to either an accessory or a main well.
