Abstract: Compositions comprising decitabine and tetrahydrouridine or 5-azacytidine and tetrahydrouridine for the treatment of cancer are disclosed. The compositions in the form of a pill is administered to a human subject sequentially or alternately guided by the measurement of predictive biomarkers.

The targeting peptide is cyclo[L-Phe-L-Tyr-L-Lys(iPr)-D-Arg-L-2-Nal-Gly-D-Glu]-L-Lys(iPr). R1 is H or methyl. X1 is an optionally substituted C1-C15 hydrocarbon optionally comprising heteroatoms. R2 is C(O)OH or C(O)NH2. L1 is a linkage (thiolether, amide, maleimide-thiol, triazole). Xaa1 is D-Phe, Cpa (4-chlorophenylalanine), D-Cpa, Tpi (2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido[3,4b]indol-3-carboxylic acid), D-Tpi, Nal (naphthylalanine), or D-Nal. Xaa2 is Gly, N-methyl-Gly or D-Ala. Xaa3 is Leu, Pro, D-Pro, or Phe. Xaa4 is Pro, Phe, Tac (thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid), Nle (norleucine), 4-oxa-L-Pro (oxazolidine-4-carboxylic acid). The method is suitable for prophylaxis and therapy of a condition that is positively correlated with undesirable hematopoiesis. Such conditions include autoimmune diseases, transplantation rejection, blood cancers and allergic reactions and inflammations. The invention also provides a pharmaceutical preparation that contains recombinant ST6Gal I and which is suitable for administration to an individual to reduce haematocytes in the individual, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

Abstract: Systems and methods consistent with the present invention improve manual screening processes for a group of documents by implementing an active learning screening process with dynamic information modeling. A classification algorithm is trained to recognize the relationships between concept tags applied to a subset of the documents and true or correct utility or relevance ratings applied to the subset of documents. Once adequately trained using several subsets of documents, the classification algorithm may be applied to the entire group of documents, screening out documents that are not relevant or important.

Abstract: A system (and a method) for electronic financial transactions includes a sender and a recipient each having an electronic wallet, a sending bank and a receiving bank each having a host application system and an authentication server, and a wallet management center with a host application system and an authentication server. The sender uses its electronic wallet to send an encrypted payment instruction directly to the electronic wallet of the recipient. The recipient can perform a second level encryption of the instruction for submission to the wallet management center for authentication. Once authenticated, the wallet management center notifies the recipient and submits payment instructions for clearing by the corresponding sending and receiving banks. Payment authorization is authenticated directly by the sending bank without involvement of the wallet management center. For enhanced usability, payment details may be originated from the recipient to the sender using proximity or online messaging.

Abstract: Disc drives are made with an actuator designed with at least one asymmetrical arm having two masses that move out of phase. The arm is modified by removing a portion of the higher-energy (longitudinal) side, the one with the greater total time-averaged strain energy. This modification reduces the phase difference between the first and the second arm, particularly for a relevant frequency range of interest. Disc drives made by this method exhibit a generally reduced out-of-phase motion, enhancing performance during seeking and track following, especially for arms with two heads that interact with surfaces of opposing discs.
