Publication number: 20230400865Abstract: A controller may receive a command indicating a target roll angle, of an implement of the machine, relative to a chassis of the machine. The controller may detect a change in a roll angle of the chassis of the machine. The controller may filter the change to pass a low frequency change and remove a high frequency change. The controller may cause the target roll angle to be adjusted based on the low frequency change.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2022Publication date: December 14, 2023Applicant: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Bradley Paul KRONE, Joseph Leo FAIVRE

Publication number: 20230295901Abstract: One or more devices may receive target position data indicating a target position of an implement of the machine, the target position being determined based on operator control data indicating a position of an operator control associated with the machine. The one or more devices may determine a current position of the implement. The one or more devices may determine a command that causes the implement to move from the current position to the target position, wherein the command is determined based on the target position and the current position. The one or more devices may provide the command to cause the implement to move from the current position to the target position.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2022Publication date: September 21, 2023Applicant: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Michael William BRIDENBAUGH, Bradley Paul KRONE, Joseph Leo FAIVRE

Publication number: 20230228065Abstract: A device may receive machine data indicating a pose of one or more components of a machine. The machine data may be generated based on first data from one or more first sensor devices associated with the machine. The device may generate validation data to validate the machine data. The validation data may be generated based on second data from a second set of sensor devices. The device may perform a comparison of the machine data and the validation data and determine, based the comparison, whether the machine data is validated or not validated. The device may selectively control an operation of the machine based on the machine data. Based on determining that the machine data is validated, the operation may be controlled based on the machine data. The operation may be controlled without the machine data based on determining that the machine data is not validated.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2021Publication date: July 20, 2023Applicant: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Bradley Paul KRONE, Joseph Leo FAIVRE

Patent number: 9593461Abstract: A control system for a machine is disclosed. The control system may have a first cylinder operatively connected between a first side of a work tool and an undercarriage of the machine, a second cylinder operatively connected between a second side of the work tool and the undercarriage of the machine, and one or more electro-hydraulic valves configured to selectively regulate flow of pressurized fluid to the cylinders. The control system may also have a controller configured to determine a difference between a desired pitch of the work tool and an actual pitch of the work tool, and compare the difference to a threshold value. The controller may also be configured to move the one or more electro-hydraulic valves to change the flow of pressurized fluid to at least one of the first and second cylinders to adjust the actual pitch of the work tool to the desired pitch, based on the comparison.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2014Date of Patent: March 14, 2017Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Joseph Leo Faivre, Nathaniel Steven Doy

Patent number: 8521371Abstract: Systems and methods for selectively remapping implement control commands in a machine comprise receiving a first input command signal for controlling a plurality of actuators associated with the machine. The first input command signal is associated with controlling a first work tool such that each of the plurality of actuators is independently controllable by one or more implement controllers. A current work tool attached to the machine is identified and compared with a first work tool. If the current work tool is different from the first work tool, the first input command signal is transformed into a second input command signal associated with the current work tool and provided to a plurality of actuators of the machine. The second input command signal is associated with controlling the current work tool such that less than each of the plurality of actuators is independently controllable by the one or more implement controllers.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2010Date of Patent: August 27, 2013Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventor: Joseph Leo Faivre

Patent number: 7975410Abstract: A control system for use with an excavation machine is disclosed. The control system may have a boom member, a linear actuator connected to pivot the boom member in a first direction, a rotary actuator connected to swing the boom member in a second direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction, and an operator input device configured to generate a command signal indicative of a desired movement of the boom member. The control system may also have a tilt sensor configured to detect an inclination of the excavation machine, and a controller in communication with the rotary actuator, the operator input device, and the tilt sensor. The controller may be configured to receive a swing end stop for the boom member, to control the rotary actuator to move the boom member based on the command signal, and to modify the command signal to inhibit movement of the boom member past the swing end stop based on the detected inclination of the excavation machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2008Date of Patent: July 12, 2011Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Joseph Leo Faivre, Roger Dale Koch, Brahmaramba Tallapragada
