  • Patent number: 5383707
Abstract: An interlock for a fold down seat back with an integral child seat prevents the use of the child seat unless the fold down seat back is latched in place and likewise prevents unlatching of the seat back when the child seat is deployed. The interlock is provided as a simple subassembly that can be added to the seat back quickly and easily. The interlock avoids the need for a striker bar attached to the child seat cushion panel and minimizes the extent of modifications required to an existing seat back latch.

  • Patent number: 5234237
Abstract: A modular latch assembly is disposed in a sliding van door for unlatching the van from a closed position and actuating a roller latch release so that the door can be moved from the fully open position. The latch assembly includes interior and exterior handles pivotally mounted relative to a mounting plate. The handles alternately engage and forcibly rotate a crank bar supported on the mounting plate. A motion transmitting core element extends from the crank bar to a rear latch supported on the door for controlling the rear latch. An interior lock button and an exterior lock cylinder move the crank bar into and out of operative engagement with the interior and exterior handles. The interior and exterior actuator handles also control a roller latch release mechanism supported on the mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 4946211
Abstract: A latch control arrangement includes a transfer lever coupled to the locking lever of a door latch for movement therewith between locked and unlocked positions to place the door latch in its locked or unlocked conditions. A power operator is coupled to the transfer lever. A manual operator is movable from a neutral position to either of a pair of first operating positions to actuate the power operator. Continued movement of the operator from a first operating position to either of a pair of second operating positions mechanically couples the operator to the transfer lever.

  • Patent number: 4895403
Abstract: A door handle in which the handle bar is first pushed inwardly about one pivot axis to permit the user to grip the handle, and then the handle bar is pulled outwardly about a second pivot axis in order to unlatch the door. Springs normally establish the handle bar at a normal position substantially filling the recess and are yieldable to permit the inward swinging movement of the handle about the first pivot axis and the pulling of the door handle outwardly about the second pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 4603894
Abstract: The door lock assembly, the inside door handle, the power lock actuator, the various bell crank levers, and the connecting rods acting therebetween are assembled upon a module frame off the assembly line to enable construction of a preassembled and tested door lock and handle module for subsequent mounting on the vehicle door. The module frame has a longitudinal extending stiffening flange along the upper margin thereof. A molded plastic cover fits over the assembled module and cooperates with the module frame and its stiffening flange to enclose the door lock rod in order to prevent unauthorized entry into the vehicle body by the insertion of a tool between the door outer panel and the window glass to actuate the door lock rod.
