  • Patent number: 7905105
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system are provided for a modular in-frame pumped refrigerant distribution system. Specifically, a micro-channel heat exchanger is positioned in an equipment cabinet close to equipment that generates heat. More specifically, the micro-channel heat exchanger may be positioned on a) a shelf above the equipment, b) the back side of the equipment, or c) a shelf below the equipment. The micro-channel heat exchanger is operable to receive a refrigerant supplied by an external heat exchanger along a primary flow path, transfer heat from air above and/or near the equipment to a coil of the micro-channel heat exchanger, circulate the refrigerant to extract the heat, and return the refrigerant with an extracted portion of generated heat to the external heat exchanger along a secondary flow path. The external heat exchanger may remove extracted heat from a building via a building chilled water system or an outdoor condenser unit.

  • Publication number: 20030031513
Abstract: A machine for continuously removing and packaging contaminated surface soil from sites, such as nuclear test areas, as the machine moves along a path of travel. The machine includes an auger-type scarfing unit for removing an upper layer of surface soil and directing the soil airborne into a chamber substantially enclosed to the outside environment, a soil separation and first bagging station including a cyclone generator for pneumatically receiving an air stream of soil removed by the scarfing unit and separating soil from the air stream for containment in bags which are periodically discarded from the machine, a filter and second bagging station for filtering remaining particulate matter from the air stream for containment in disposable bags, and a final filter station for removing substantially all remaining particulate matter from the air stream prior to discharge to the environment.

  • Patent number: 5590956
Abstract: A self-positioning light fixture with a stabilizing base comprises a self-righting member in the shape of a spherical segment and a separate lamp supporting member with connecting means to join the two together and to separate each from the other. When separated, a filling neck or spout on the top wall of the self-righting member is exposed through which fluid ballast material such a sand may be poured into the cavity of the self-righting member. The filling neck has external threads to engage the internal threads of a recess opening to the bottom wall of the lamp supporting member when received therein to thereby couple the two members together. Additional fastening screws are provided to more securely connect the self-righting member to the lamp supporting member. A shock absorbing mechanism is provided comprising mounting springs to secure the lamp bulb socket member to the lamp supporting member and thereby protect it from shocks transmitted to the lamp fixture.

  • Patent number: 5490051
Abstract: A self-positioning lamp fixture with an integrally formed unitary support structure, including a self righting rounded lower wall terminating in a flat portion to stabilize the lamp structure when in its upright position. A continuous cavity extends throughout the integrally formed support structure making it lightweight. A weight receiving recess is provided at the lower end having an open wall across the flat portion of the structure's lower wall to receive a cylindrical weight therein. The cylindrical weight is removable and is held in the weight receiving recess by removable lag screws. The cylindrical weight has a planar bottom wall which covers the open wall across the flat portion of the structure's lower wall when the cylindrical weight is secured in place within the weight receiving recess.

  • Patent number: 5134555
Abstract: A self positioning lamp fixture comprises an elongated stand having a lamp component on its upper end and a self-righting or self-positioning structure at its lower end. The self-righting or self-positioning structure comprises a hemi-spherical bottom wall with a rounded outer surface for contact with the horizontal surface on which the lamp fixture is placed, and a volume of weighted material or ballast uniformly dispersed in the hemi-spherical cavity bounded by the hemi-spherical bottom wall below the horizontal equatorial plane through the upper edge of the hemi-spherical bottom wall, such ballast having sufficient weight relative to the weight of the rest of the lamp fixture which is above to lower the center of gravity below the horizontal equatorial plane.
