  • Publication number: 20160223472
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved method and apparatus to calibrate a material characterization system. The method and apparatus are operative to set up multiple configurations for measuring and recording a specific characteristic response of the system for each configuration, using electromagnetic waves. The apparatus is designed to enable the system to measure and record the position of a reference material and a set of calibration data for such reference material, while positioned at locations that correspond to a range of possible thicknesses or fluttering during measurements of a sample that the system is capable of characterizing. As a result, a sample under test having a specific thickness and measured at a particular position can be readily calibrated analytically or by using reference data previously recorded with the same set up.

  • Publication number: 20080060241
Abstract: A store security device with attached advertising system includes a store security system for detecting magnetic tags attached to merchandise. The security device includes a magnetic sensor mounted in a frame attached to a base. A cover having first and second side panels and displaying advertising on at least one panel includes an aperture for the sensor and is sized and shaped to fit slidably over the frame. The side panels may include one or more pockets for dispensing promotional materials. An electronic image display may be affixed to the cover or attached directly within the frame, or on the top or side of the frame. Images can be changed on the display in response to motion detectors, as the result of voice activation or based upon a stored program. The image display may be linked to a computer over a network. The images shown may be accompanied by sound.

  • Publication number: 20050279000
Abstract: A store security device with advertising cover includes a store security system for detecting magnetic tags attached to merchandise. The security device includes a magnetic sensor mounted in a frame attached to a base. A cover having first and second side panels joined together at their side and/or top edges is sized and shaped to fit slidably over the frame. The cover includes an aperture for the sensor or is fabricated from material that does not interfere with its operation. Advertising or promotional material is affixed to at least one of the first and second side panels. The side panels may include one or more pockets for dispensing promotional materials. The side panels may include one or more receptacles having a transparent outer wall. These receptacles are sized and shaped to hold removable printed advertising or promotional sheets. The receptacles have an open top or side and a closed bottom.

  • Patent number: 6971504
Abstract: A conveyor belt with advertising is fabricated by coating at least one flexible belting member with a vinyl size coating. A white base coat is applied over the vinyl size coating. Special white PVC coated belting material is also used. A variety of printing processes are used to print advertising images on the belting member. These processes include silkscreen, flexographic, offset and digital inkjet printing. The belting member may be coated with a clear coating material and cured under ultraviolet lighting. The belting members may be made in lengths shorter than the entire length of the conveyor belt with removable attachment means, permitting individual advertising images to be replaced without replacing the entire conveyor belt. Methods for fabricating the belting members including ink formulations, handling and drying steps are also described.
