  • Patent number: 11593160
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method for cluster resource scheduling, includes determining at least one load score; determining a memory score; determining an IO score; and monitoring a message bus for candidate messages when each of the at least one load score, memory score, and IO score is less than a pre-determined health threshold. In some embodiments, a host computer system for hosting a plurality of virtual machines (VMs), includes: a memory; a network adapter for communicating with the cluster by way of a message bus; a processor in electronic communication with the memory and the network adapter, wherein the processor is programmed to: determine at least one load score; determine a memory score; determine an IO score; and monitor the message bus for candidate messages when each of the at least one load score, memory score, and IO score is less than a pre-determined health threshold.

  • Patent number: 8249960
Abstract: A system and method for providing real-time validation to a content provider of a customer's request transmitted via a communications system for delivery of content by the content provider to the customer via a communications system. A request for validation of the customer from the content provider, the request including data identifying the customer, is dealt with by determining from the identifying data whether the customer is a subscriber and then immediately requesting acknowledgement by the customer of the customer's request for the delivery of the content. Upon receipt of an acknowledgement from the customer a validation of the customer's request is sent to the content provider.

  • Patent number: 8210402
Abstract: A slag control shape is releasably mounted on a mounted member carried on a molten vessel or an adjacent base. The mounted member includes an L-shaped bracket carrying a movable member to release the slag control shape and an actuator for selectively releasing the slag control shape. The mounting member further includes a sleeve secured to the vessel or adjacent base. A rotating shaft is connectable to both the L-shaped bracket and sleeve to provide rotatable movement in selective positions, of the L-shaped bracket relative to the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 7779766
Abstract: This invention consists of a casing designed to appear like a purse or wallet. The casing also has a flap with a stud, an accompanying clasp, and a pressurized dye packet. It may also include false coins, currency and credit cards, and miscellaneous compartments, pockets and slits. To use this invention, a person simply places the casing into his or her pocket or carries the casing like a purse. If a thief steals the casing, the dye packet automatically discharges when the flap is opened separating the stud from the clasp. The indelible red dye marks the thief's body and/or clothing for later identification.

  • Patent number: 6259601
Abstract: A docking device for a portable computer including an enclosure having a support surface for supporting a portable computer thereon. An orifice plate is attached to the enclosure adjacent to the support surface. The orifice plate includes a plurality of orifices formed therethrough and the orifice plate is recessed with respect to the support surface. An air duct including an outlet portion is attached to an interior portion of the enclosure adjacent to the orifice plate. A blower is attached to an inlet portion of the air duct. The blower is operable to pressurize the air duct such that air is expelled through the orifices. The embodiments of the present disclosure reduce the skin temperature of the computer and the operating temperature of heat generating internal components. In addition, the processor can be operated at higher speeds for longer periods of time.
