  • Publication number: 20240177211
Abstract: An online concierge system suggests replacement items when an ordered item may be unavailable. To promote similarity of sources between the replacement item with the ordered item, candidate replacement items are scored, in part, based on a source similarity score based on a source of the candidate replacement item and a source of the ordered item. The source similarity score may be determined by a computer model based on user interactions with item sources. The similarity score may be based on source embeddings that may be determined based on respective item embeddings or may be determined by training source embeddings directly from user-source interactions. The similarity score for a candidate replacement item may be combined with a replacement score indicating the user's likelihood of selecting the candidate replacement item as a replacement to yield a total score for selection as suggestion as a replacement for the ordered item.

  • Patent number: 7626966
Abstract: A communication device for use in an ad hoc network is disclosed. The device is adapted to concurrently (a) communicate directly with other network nodes, (b) communicate indirectly with other network nodes via intermediate network nodes, and (c) serve as an intermediate network node with respect to other network nodes indirectly communicating with one another. When implementing unicast communications, the communication device employs a CSMA protocol with which to identify and reserve available communication slots defined in accordance with a TDMA protocol without the use of a beacon signal. When implementing multicast communications, the communication device employs a stochastic re-transmission scheme that ensures widespread dissemination of messages with minimal flooding.

  • Patent number: 7253231
Abstract: A novel highly grafted, multi-functional olefin copolymer is provided comprising an additive reaction product of a method comprising reacting acylating agent with an olefin copolymer having a number average molecular weight greater than about 1,000 in the presence of a free radical initiator and essentially free of hydrocarbon solvent in an extruder to provide an olefin copolymer intermediate comprising an acylated olefin copolymer having a degree of grafting (DOG) of at least 0.5 wt. %, which copolymer intermediate's molecular weight is reduced, vacuum stripped of unreacted components, pelletized, dissolved in a neutral oil (preferably with inert gas sparging), and further reacted with a polyamine to provide a grafted multi-functional olefin copolymer viscosity modifier, and lubricating oil concentrates and compositions containing the same and uses thereof.
