  • Publication number: 20240180580
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are operable to track usage of a surgical instrument and modify the performance of the surgical instrument based on the prior usage of the surgical instrument. Some surgical instruments are designed to have a limited service life beginning at their first use, or a limit to their overall usage in order to ensure safe use of the sensitive instruments. However, a lack of ability to track usage characteristics when the instrument is separated from an external power supply allows for user abuse and avoidance of such safety mechanisms. Adding a battery or capacitor to the instrument may allow for an ability to track usage when the instrument is separated from an external power supply. Implementing special user prompts, device use ratios, and device use half-life upon powering down of an instrument may additionally be used to prevent circumvention of safety features.

  • Patent number: 5171321
Abstract: Areola and nipple prosthesis device for application to the surface of a human breast comprising an areola portion having an inner concave surface which conforms to the shape of a human breast to which it is applied and an outer convex surface. The inner concave surface includes an adhesive for removably positioning the prosthesis to the human breast. The nipple portion of the device is disposed proximate to the center of areola portion and extends outwardly from the outer surface of the areola portion.

  • Patent number: 4205103
Abstract: A heat sensitive, but stable, gellant system is added to a foam latex during manufacture of the latex or as an additive ingredient being incorporated at the time of preparing the liquid foam compound. The system is comprised of an amphoteric surfactant acid or an amphoteric surfactant acid neutralized with a fixed alkali, said surfactant being capable of both sensitizing the latex emulsifier and functioning as a stabilizer; a water soluble ionizable organic or inorganic acid capable of activating the gelation mechanism and a water soluble, volatile, organic or inorganic base which is added in an amount sufficient to neutralize the combination of the surfactant and the acid to a pH of 8 to 12.
