Abstract: A rack system for use with high performance audio and video components is described. Preferred embodiments of the rack system are customizable and modular comprising horizontally and vertically extending elongated sections of strut channel that are secured together with cap screws and channel nuts. Components are supported on the rack by way of specially configured mounts, as the preferred embodiment racks are shelfless. The mounts typically include one or both of a constrained layer of viscoelastic damping material and a bearing assembly to help isolate the components and to absorb vibration energy passing through the rack or generated by a component. The mounts also typically include a threaded stud that extends from one side and facilitates the attachment of the mounts to horizontally orientated strut channel elements.
