  • Publication number: 20240084479
Abstract: Described herein are devices and methods related to compositionally graded buffers (CGB) and methods and/or systems for producing CGBs. CGBs enable the growth of high quality materials that are lattice mismatched to a substrate. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to methods for making CGBs by hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE). HVPE methods using a single chamber for producing a CGB may result in a transience in the CGB layers as the flows supplying the reactants are switched to produce the next subsequent layer in the CGB. In contrast to this static style of grading, the present disclosure describes a dynamic method for producing CGBs, in which multiple growth chambers are utilized.

  • Patent number: 8479791
Abstract: This is an invention for a system and method of automatically inflating the wheels of a vehicle during driving operation. When air pressure in a wheel of the vehicle decreases below a pre-determined limit, a solenoid device is activated to extend a kick-rod. As the wheel rotates, a pump mounted on the wheel strikes the kick-rod of the solenoid device, thereby causing air to be injected into the wheel. The automatic tire inflation system works by employing the mechanical energy of the rotating wheel to drive the pump upon contact with the solenoid device.

  • Publication number: 20130015260
Abstract: This patent describes a scientific explanation for what causes lightning and thunder and how to replicate it using high-frequency soundwaves such as radar and microwaves. The uses for this are mainly in military weaponry and weather modification. This is a very high energy weapon, and is capable of great damage if not used properly. Uses of this invention include: Missile defense, aiming at a nuclear missile to disable all electrical and electronic systems with electromagnetic pulse (lightning) and break the missile apart with the concurrent acoustic shockwave (thunder). Other uses include installing the devices in airplanes, helicopters and tanks to fire lightning and thunder upon whatever it is aimed at: air-air combat, air to ground combat, ground to air combat, tank to ground combat. This technology could obsolete guns and fired projectiles if widespread military utilization is made. The system can be used to either start or diffuse a hurricane.

  • Patent number: 7960951
Abstract: Disclosed is a multi-phase power regulator that accurately senses current at a load in a lossless manner and adjusts the power supplied to the load based on the sensed current. Also disclosed is a method of calibrating a multiphase voltage regulator by applying a known calibration current at the load and determining actual current values by the difference in measured values between when the known calibration current is applied and when it is not applied. The accurate current is determined at a known temperature and accurate temperature compensation is provided by a non-linear digital technique. Each phase of the multi-phase power regulator is individually calibrated so that balanced channels provide accurate power to the load. Also disclosed is a calibration method with minimal noise generation.

  • Patent number: 7706155
Abstract: The invention relates to a half-bridge power converter controller that employs current mode control. The power converter controller includes pulse modulation circuitry, error circuitry, and stabilization circuitry. The stabilization circuitry stabilizes the voltage at the mid-point of a half-bridge power converter input capacitor circuit. The input capacitor circuit mid-point voltage is stabilized by selectively adjusting the on-times of the high-side switch and low-side switch of a half-bridge power converter. This adjustment tailors the current that is provided to the input capacitor circuit and thus maintains the mid-point voltage near a desired value.

  • Patent number: 5726592
Abstract: A low voltage differential signal detector capable of detecting low-voltage differential signals over a large common-mode voltage range. The signal detector uses two differential pairs of opposite conductivity type, coupled to each other in a self-biasing manner to detect low voltage swings in a signal over a large common-mode voltage range. Depending upon the common-mode voltage level of the signal, the low-voltage level swings will be detected by one of the differential pairs, the other of the differential pairs or both.

  • Patent number: 5666354
Abstract: A full-duplex, differential, bi-directional communications link for simultaneously transmitting differential data between electronic devices is provided. Each transceiver coupled to the communications channel comprises a CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) differential driver and receiver. The differential driver provides constant CMOS voltage sources for providing stable data signal transmission at reduced voltage levels. Voltage sources providing a data signal voltage different from the desired data signal voltage can be placed into a high impedance mode to allow the desired data signal voltage to be transmitted on the common line. The differential receiver includes self-biasing feedback circuitry to provide biasing voltages to the circuit while avoiding manufacturing difficulties associated with providing precise bias voltages. The complementary amplifier structure of the receiver provides an increased common mode noise tolerance.

  • Patent number: 5520404
Abstract: A hitch or towing device to connect a trailer having at least two swivelable ground-contacting wheels to an automobile or similar prime mover includes two arms to connect the trailer to the prime mover. The arms are flexible in a vertical direction but rigid in a longitudinal and in a sidewise direction. This permits the automobile to push the trailer backwards and also permits relative motion between the trailer and the automobile in roll and pitch but not in yaw. In a preferred embodiment the arms connecting the trailer to the automobile are leaf springs, and couplings permanently fastened to the automobile engage the front end of the springs in a hinge-like manner, the hinge-pin being easily removable to facilitate connecting and disconnecting of trailer and automobile.
