Patent number: 10598002Abstract: An interlock system for use in a wellbore and method of using same, including a plurality of sensors configured to detect physical conditions within a wellbore. The sensors may be absolute locational sensors or relative locational sensors. Electronic signals are generated when sensors detect corresponding physical conditions. A processor derives location information from the electronic signals, and verifies location by comparison to pre-programmed reference information for each sensor. A trigger signal is generated when at least two location information have been verified, which is used to activate a downhole event. A timer may also be set with a calculated time delay before the trigger signal is generated. The interlock system operates independent of connection to any device at the surface of a wellbore, and may be attached to any equipment for deployment down a wellbore.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2017Date of Patent: March 24, 2020Assignee: IdeasCo LLCInventor: Joseph Sites

Patent number: 10443361Abstract: A multi-shot explosive charge includes a plurality of chambers divided by shared walls between adjacent chambers. Explosive material within at least one of the chambers creates an explosive force in an outward direction upon detonation and a perforating jet through the open end of the chamber. A perforating charge includes at least one explosive material producing explosive forces, upon detonation that collide within the chamber to create a perforating jet. Such perforating charge may be a chamber(s) within a multi-shot explosive charge, or an individual charge. First and second explosive materials can have the same or different compositions and detonation rates that together with the arrangement of materials within the chamber create the collision of forces. A plurality of multi-shot explosive charge or stand-alone perforating charges with colliding forces can be interconnected in an array, and can be included in a perforating gun(s).Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2017Date of Patent: October 15, 2019Assignee: IdeasCo LLCInventor: Joseph Sites

Patent number: 9145763Abstract: A perforation gun which provides a means to create perforations required for the hydraulic fracturing of rock formations for the production of natural gas, oil, and other oil well fluids and further comprises a gun body assembly having an inserted carrier tube to nest shaped charge canisters with built in primers, conical liner, and explosive material. The charges are positioned in various angular patterns along various phase angles to create specifically directed perforation tunnels which puncture scalloped areas of the aforementioned gun body and subsequently penetrate through the wellbore, well casing, well cement, and into the rock formations for the release and removal of natural gas, oil, and other oil well fluids after hydraulic fracturing.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2012Date of Patent: September 29, 2015Inventor: Joseph A. Sites, Jr.
