  • Publication number: 20150273265
Abstract: The exercise device named Backboard 3 is designed to enable the user to perform both abdominal and back muscle strengthening exercises on the top surface of a conventional bed. For the purpose of back strengthening, the device allows the user to flex the upper body in a downward position over the end of a bed and then raise the upper body against gravity to the horizontal position. Abdominal strengthening is performed by doing what is commonly known as the sit up. The device stabilizes the lower extremities by retaining the ankles under a foam covered bar. The device is a departure from the previous art as detailed in U.S. Pat. No. 7,163,497 Spinosa, Jan. 16, 2007, by being easier to deploy and store when not in use.

  • Patent number: 7163497
Abstract: The device is designed to enable the user to perform both abdominal strengthening and back muscle strengthening exercises on the top surface of a conventional bed. A conventional bed is defined as one with a semi-rigid mattress and a rigid frame. The device attaches and detaches to the said bed easily and provides the means to strengthen both the flexor and extensor muscles of the trunk with the added advantages of convenience and low cost. The device is a departure from the previous art as detailed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,890,289 Spinosa, May 10, 2005, in that it provides increased stability for both the bed and the user in the performance of said exercises.

  • Patent number: 3994666
Abstract: A fire start unit having all the necessary elements for creating a flame to ignite a material such as wood. The unit includes hollow housing means with removable closure means at each end of the housing means with igniter means manually operated by the user at one end of the housing means to create a spark after the safety means has been removed. Contained within the hollow casing at the opposite end is removable tinder means consisting of a first flame means and a second flame means. The unit in operational use ignites the first flame means by a spark generated by the igniter means which in turn ignites the second flame means.
