  • Patent number: 4713973
Abstract: An indicator apparatus has multiple stages to effectively handle data processing, particularly raw data from a mechanical load cell, such as those used to monitor loads in the mechanical workings of a torque arm reducer. Processing of such raw data is split into parallel operations relating to both signal level and signal polarity functions. This multi-staged approach enables increased precision as to both functions due to tailoring of the data inputs to different stages. Use of staged circuitry to effect the separated functions also readily permits the presence of an unobtrusive monitor level signal output. Combined with other features, a limit detector and alarm permits accurate provision of both a stable response to low frequency steady state mechanical data and to fast-acting high frequency transient/dynamic data contained therein. Indicated polarity changes signify alternating tension and compression in the mechanical couplings of a load cell.

  • Patent number: 4553335
Abstract: A shaft alignment device for use in aligning two opposed, rotatable shafts connected by a shaft coupling is disclosed, having magnetic base portions adaptable for mounting on the shafts, hubs, or on auxiliary structures secured to the shafts or hubs. The device includes fixed bracket members with pivotally mounted swivel blocks therein. Extension beams project across the coupling from each swivel block to a reference surface on the facing bracket, and measurement indicators measure the degree of deflection of the swivel blocks. A leveling device indicates the relative position of the alignment devices for taking measurements at 0.degree., 90.degree., 180.degree., and 270.degree., and the coordinates obtained are used to plot the aligned positions of the shafts.

  • Patent number: 4534114
Abstract: A coupling alignment system for use in aligning coupled, rotatable shaft members. The system includes coupling hubs mounted on the opposed shafts and modified to receive bracket members. A pivotally mounted beam extends from one bracket member to the opposite bracket member or coupling hub, and a measurement indicator, mounted on the bracket member, registers the degree of deflection of the beam relative to the bracket or hub on the opposite side. No shaft access is required, since the brackets are secured directly to the coupling hubs, and the measurement indicator mass is firmly supported by the bracket, minimizing indicator sag. The present system includes angular, radial, and axial bracket mounting embodiments, the system, thereby, greatly facilitating alignment procedures in the field.

  • Patent number: 4168611
Abstract: A system for controlling the acceleration and/or deceleration of a mechanical power drive having a rotatable power output element and a rotatable reaction element with a hydraulic or pneumatic brake mechanism connected thereto, in which a motor drive pump or other pressure creating device is connected by a fluid pressure line to the brake mechanism, and a bleed line with an electrically controlled valve therein is connected to the fluid pressure line for relieving the pressure delivered by the pump to the brake mechanism. An electrical system responsive to the rotational speed of the output element of the power drive controls the pressure creating means to control the acceleration and/or deceleration rate of the output element. An accumulator and a pressure responsive relief valve are preferably included in the system to assist in regulating the pressure delivered to the brake mechanism, and a dump valve and overload control device are normally included in the system.

  • Patent number: 3969677
Abstract: A sensing circuit using a polarity discriminator with feedback means for selecting one polarity component of a bi-polar non-symmetrical waveshape signal input, while rejecting the opposite polarity component. The circuit operates on both the amplitude and the frequency characteristics of the input signal, to produce an output signal responsive to these characteristics. The circuit may be used to process signals generated from toothed wheels by electromagnetic sensors, or the like, typically used in tachometer control.
