  • Publication number: 20080009900
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and devices for securing soft tissue to a rigid material such as bone. A surgical device having a jaw assembly with a sharpened beak-shaped tip and an aperture suitable for receiving a suture anchor is described. The surgical device includes slots in the side of the aperture through which suture that is attached to the anchor can be disengaged from the device.

  • Publication number: 20070288023
Abstract: Repair and reattachment of damaged soft tissue to bone is facilitated by positioning a biologic or synthetic tissue augment between the soft tissue and the broad footprint of a two-point fixation suture/anchor geometry. Interaction of the tissue augment with the soft tissue is promoted by compression of the augment against the soft tissue over the broad footprint.

  • Publication number: 20070167950
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and devices for securing soft tissue to a rigid material such as bone. A bone anchor is described that comprises a base and a top such that suture material may be compressed between surfaces on the base and top to secure the suture to the anchor. Also described is an inserter that can be used to insert the bone anchor into bone and move the anchor top relative to the anchor base to clamp suture material there between. Also described is a soft-tissue and bone piercing anchor and associated inserter. Methods are described that allow use of the bone anchors to provide multiple lengths of suture material to compress a large area of soft tissue against bone.

  • Publication number: 20070142835
Abstract: A bone anchor is described having pre-attached suture material. After insertion, lateral wings can be deployed on the bone anchor to prevent anchor pull-out. The suture may be attached at the tip of the anchor by tying it to a wire hook secured in a cavity in the anchor tip. The anchor may be inserted and deployed using an anchor inserter that is configured to apply an axial force to the anchor, thereby deforming the anchor to form the lateral wings.
