  • Patent number: 9033108
Abstract: A lubricant flow suppressor positioned proximate a rotating component for receiving ejected lubricant therefrom and reducing the kinetic energy of the ejected lubricant. The suppressor includes at least two perforated walls with a lubricant flow path formed therebetween.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 14, 2007
Date of Patent: May 19, 2015
    Assignee: Rolls-Royce Corporation
    Inventor: Joseph V. Matucheski

  • Patent number: 4242046
Abstract: A sheet metal construction for a fan spider. The spider arms each carry an integral rib running centrally along the arm and each rib is flat on its upper surface to mount a fan blade. The novelty of the invention resides in canting forwardly the spider arms. Such canting reduces certain stresses in the fan, thereby reducing cost of manufacture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 15, 1978
Date of Patent: December 30, 1980
    Assignee: Wallace Murray Corporation

  • Patent number: 4172693
Abstract: A flexible fan blade construction of the type wherein a decamber limiter is carried by each spider arm and bears against one side of its associated fan blade to thereby limit flexing (decamber) thereof. According to this invention, the decamber limiter terminates short of the heel of each fan blade. High stress concentrations due to contact between the heel edge of each fan blade and its associated decamber limiter are avoided by this novel construction.

  • Patent number: 4150919
Abstract: A fan construction of the type having a hoop configured hub provided with fan blades. The hub has apertures adjacent the blade roots. A viscous drive carries the hub. Rotation of the fan causes a pressure differential between the two ends of each hub aperture thus forcing an airflow radially outward to assist in cooling the viscous drive.
