  • Patent number: 11971743
Abstract: A deformable electronic device includes a flexible display, one or more sensors, at least one imager, and one or more processors. The one or more sensors detect deformation of the deformable electronic device. The at least one imager, which is disposed beneath the flexible display, captures one or more images of an identifiable marker of the flexible display in response to the one or more sensors detecting the deformation of the deformable electronic device. The one or more processors estimate an amount of the deformation of the deformable electronic device as a function of how far the identifiable marker of the flexible display translates across the at least one imager during the deformation of the deformable electronic device.

  • Patent number: 11594253
Abstract: A mobile device has at least one media output device for presenting first media content, at least one communication interface that receives signals/data indicative of whether a consumer of the first media content is actively consuming the first media content; and at least one processor executing program code, which enables the mobile device to: during playing of a first media content, receive, via the communication interface, the first data; evaluate, based on a comparison of the first data with comparative data, whether the first data indicates that the consumer is not paying attention to the first media content; and in response to the consumer not paying attention, identify, by the processor, based on a time of receipt of the first data, a first time corresponding to a location within the first media content at which the consumer stopped paying attention during the playback of the first media content.

  • Patent number: 11234101
Abstract: A method, a system, and a computer program product for configuring output devices of a wearable device based on a detected orientation and body location of the wearable device. The method includes measuring at least one orientation input from at least one orientation module of a wearable device. The method further includes analyzing, via a processor of the wearable device, the at least one orientation input to determine a body location of the wearable device and a current orientation of the wearable device at the body location. The method further includes configuring at least one output device of the wearable device for operation in the current orientation at the body location.

  • Patent number: 11164602
Abstract: A method, a mobile device, and a computer program product for detecting loss of attention during play of media content in a mobile device. The method includes, during playback of first media content, receiving first data indicative of whether a consumer of the first media content is actively consuming the first media content. The method further includes evaluating, based on a comparison of the first data with comparative data, whether the first data indicates that the consumer is likely not currently paying attention to playback of the first media content. The method further includes identifying, based on a time of receipt of the first data that indicates that the consumer is not paying attention, a first time within the first media content at which the consumer stopped paying attention during the playback and resetting a playback location of the first media content to continue playback from the first time.

  • Patent number: 11112831
Abstract: A method includes detecting touch input received by a first touch sensor that detects touch on a surface of an electronic device (ED), that has a connection interface enabling coupling with a second ED having a second touch sensor. The method includes, in response to detecting the touch input, determining a state of the connection interface as being a connected or disconnected state relative to the second ED. The method includes in response to determining the state is the connected state: determining whether the touch input is associated with a multi-device (MD) gesture. The method includes, in response to determining the touch input is not associated with a MD gesture, executing an independent local-only function associated with the touch input. The method includes, in response to determining the touch input is associated with a MD gesture, executing a MD function associated with the MD gesture.

  • Patent number: 11048317
Abstract: A communication device, method, and computer program product provide higher confidence in person detection by augmenting sensing with carbon dioxide sensing and contextual information. The communication device determines a current carbon dioxide level in a space in which the communication device is located. A processor of the communication device compares the current carbon dioxide level to a carbon dioxide baseline threshold that is indicative of presence of a person in the space. In response to determining that the current carbon dioxide level is greater than the carbon dioxide baseline threshold, the processor further determines whether at least one target is sensed within the space. In response to determining that at least one target is sensed in the space, the processor infers the presence of a person in the space and sets a control mode of the communication device that correlates to the presence of the person.

  • Publication number: 20190065984
Abstract: A method and electronic device for detecting and recognizing autonomous gestures in a monitored location. The method includes receiving, at a processor, data collected by a user device. The data includes at least one coordinate that is indicative of a geographic location of the user device and corresponds to at least one specific movement of the user device. The method includes determining, by a processor, whether the geographic location of the user device is an identified, monitored location, in which user activities are monitored. In response to the geographic location being an identified, monitored location, the method includes determining which specific movements are presented by the coordinate. From a database, the method includes identifying a performance of a specific operation that correlates to the coordinate. The method further includes performing a second operation, based, in part, on an identified specific operation that is being performed in the geographic location.
