Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a visual interface for identifying layers within a subterranean formation. One example method includes identifying one or more sets of data associated with a subterranean formation; computing, by operation of one or more processors, a working line based on the one or more sets of data, the working line representing a numerical average of the one or more sets of data; presenting the working line and the one or more sets of data in a common plot in a visual interface; identifying one or more layer boundaries for one or more of the layers of the subterranean formation; and generating layer data based on the one or more identified layer boundaries and the working line.

Abstract: Information sharing enhances the utility and effectiveness of gift-card transactions. A website enables a user to purchase or activate gift cards and compile recipient contact information to establish a gift network of the gift recipients. Information may be entered in relation to the interests or preferences of the gift recipients in the gift network. Product brands, services or merchants may be recommended to the user, and the user may be made aware of events, deals or promotions related to the interests and preferences of potential recipients in the gift network. Users are able to make a more informed choice regarding the purchase or activation of gift cards for recipients in the user's gift network, and manufacturers and merchants are provided with more effective advertising and selling tools.

Abstract: A terminal for marking a paper ballot which lists a plurality of candidates and which includes a marking space for each candidate which can be either hand-marked by a voter, or machine-marked by the terminal. The terminal scans the ballot to determine the ballot format, and then presents candidate selection options to the voter visually by means of an LCD touch screen menu and aurally by means of a synthesized speech menu. Candidate selections entered by means of the touch screen menu or by means of the audio menu are accurately marked on the front and back sides of the ballot in marking spaces corresponding to the selected candidates by having an alignment scan prior to printing and periodic alignment scans that collect data during printing to compensate for ballot rotation angles due to continuous skewing, and the ballot is returned to the voter in a form which enables the voter to visually confirm that his or her selections have been marked.
