  • Publication number: 20080108439
Abstract: A gaming device comprises a housing and a generally horizontally mounted thin-panel display. The gaming device includes a display cooling air system. The system includes a plenum leading to one or more passages or openings in a housing of the display which lead to the interior of the display. One or more air delivery devices, such as fans, are used to draw air into the plenum and deliver it through the passages to the interior of the display. The air is then routed out of the display through other passages or openings. In another configuration, the fans may be used to draw air through the interior of the display and exhaust it through the plenum. The plenum may be mounted directly to a rear or back of the housing of the display.

  • Publication number: 20080087521
Abstract: A gaming device is disclosed that provides a convenient way to access a currency container. The currency container may be accessed by raising the currency acceptor in a substantially vertical direction above the playing surface with respect to the top of the gaming device. An independent and lockable access panel is provided that allows only authorized personnel to access and raise the currency acceptor. A latch mechanism and biasing member are provided for releasing and raising a currency acceptor carriage which contains the currency acceptor and currency container to a raised position. The carriage may be returned to a lower position by either compressing or reversing the biasing member and re-engaging the latch mechanism. The gaming device is then restored to pre-collection configuration by closing and securely retaining the access panel.

  • Patent number: 7267613
Abstract: The invention comprises various gaming machine features and a slant-top type gaming machine. In one embodiment, a cabinet has a play area between an upwardly extending console and a supporting base portion. The console has an opening. A display and bezel are movable mounted to the console, blocking the opening in one position and allowing access to the opening in another. A game controller in the cabinet is accessible through the opening. The controller is mounted on a movable platform, allowing the controller to be moved into alignment with the opening. A ticket printer is located in the cabinet and expels tickets into a coin tray. Access doors provide access to a storage area defined by the supporting base portion.

  • Patent number: 7241222
Abstract: A gaming machine has a housing and a top panel which extends over an open top of the housing. A display is mounted to the top panel and a gaming controller is located within the housing beneath the display. Cooling air is drawn through one or more intakes in a front of the housing and expelled through one or more exhausts in a rear portion of the top panel at a location above the air intakes. The cooling air passes through a space between the gaming controller and the display, cooling those components.

  • Patent number: 7025676
Abstract: The present invention is an intelligent metering system for currency-activated devices having an electromechanical meter. The intelligent metering system includes an inductive pickup winding associated with the electromechanical meter. An amplifier is coupled to the inductive pickup winding to boost a signal detected from the inductive pickup winding when electromechanical meter is actuated. A pulse detector, coupled to the amplifier, detects pulses, false triggerings and filters out EMF spikes. A microprocessor is coupled to the pulse detector for counting the pulses detected by the pulse detector and for storing meter data related to the counted pulses in a memory device. An interface is coupled to the microprocessor for transmitting the meter data from the memory device.

  • Patent number: 7011581
Abstract: A game and gaming apparatus include a main game and a bonus game. A player is entitled to participate in the bonus game without an additional wager beyond that required to play the main game. Winning outcomes of the main game determine the indicia used to play the bonus game. In one embodiment upon a winning outcome of the main game, an indicia, such as an image of a winning amount, is transferred to the bonus game. In another embodiment, the bonus event includes categories associated with winning outcomes of the main game, the categories activated based upon wins of the main game. In one embodiment, the main game is a game of video poker. Winning hands are associated with or activate positions of the bonus game. Play of the bonus game comprises selection of at least one of the indicia or positions/categories which have been activated.

  • Patent number: 6987233
Abstract: A push-button actuatable electrical switch is disclosed. In one embodiment, the push-button electrical switch includes a body, a push-button lens cap extending from a first end of the body, and an electrical switch. Depression of the push-button lens cap causes the electrical switch to be activated. An electrically conductive pathway is defined through the body to a support structure whereby electrical discharges are routed to ground rather than through the lamp and electrical switch. In one embodiment, the pathway is defined by conductive carbon particles dispersed through a plastic forming parts of the switch, such as the body and the lens cap.

  • Patent number: 6870114
Abstract: A tool for use in removing and replacing a bulb of a push-button type actuatable switch comprises a tool body having a first end defining a bulb-accepting opening. A plurality of tines surround at least a portion of the opening. When the tines are in a first position, the opening is sufficiently large to accept a bulb. When pressed inwardly, the tines reduce the size of the opening and engage a bulb located therein. Movement of a sleeve over the outside of the body presses the tines inwardly. In one embodiment, a flexible sleeve is located in the opening for gripping and protecting a bulb. A stop extends into the insert, limiting the extent to which a bulb may be pressed into the tool. An opposing end of the tool may include a prong or blade for engaging and removing a lens cover over a bulb.
