  • Publication number: 20120103985
Abstract: A cap for a container configured for dispensing single items, such as pills, held in said container. The cap channel extends from an upper surface to a lower end providing a passageway through the cap to allow for a predetermined quantity of items to be transferred through a port in an upper portion of the cap. The cap has a lid moveable from a closed position to an open position. In its closed position dispensing of items is prevented; in its open position at least one item is dispensed through the port. A gate is operable, in a first orientation to partially block the passageway and, in a second orientation, to unblock the passageway to allow a preset number of items, to pass through. Alternatively, a diverter is incorporated to control flow of the contents.

  • Publication number: 20110282425
Abstract: A delivery system having an improved handle allowing operation of the delivery system with one hand while maintaining accuracy in delivery and deployment of a prosthesis in a body lumen. The delivery system includes a sheath and a handle. The handle includes a slide shaft having a threaded outer surface, and a hub assembly coupled to the sheath. The hub assembly includes an inner slider having a thread tooth pivot support, a thread tooth pivotably mounted to the thread tooth pivot support, a distal sleeve having a thread tooth press member pressing on the thread tooth, and a proximal sleeve. Motion of the distal sleeve relative to the inner slider pivots the thread tooth on the thread tooth pivot support to engage and disengage the hub assembly with the threaded outer surface. The distal sleeve is rotatably coupled to the proximal sleeve, and the proximal sleeve is prevented from rotating to provide a stable grip to allow operation of the catheter with one hand.

  • Publication number: 20110264203
Abstract: A delivery device for percutaneously deploying a prosthetic valve includes a sheath, an inner shaft, and a release assembly. The release assembly is disposed between the sheath and the inner shaft, and includes a retraction member, a release member, and a retention member. The retraction member can self-retract in length from an extended condition to a retracted condition. The release member can self-expand from a compressed condition to an expanded condition. The retention member is distal the release member. In a delivery state, the sheath end is distal the retention member, the release member is in the compressed condition and the retraction member in the extended condition to retain the prosthesis. In a deployment state, the sheath end is positioned to permit the release member to self-transition to the expanded condition, allowing the retraction member to self-transition to the retracted condition and release the prosthesis.

  • Publication number: 20110257733
Abstract: A device for percutaneously delivering a stented prosthetic heart valve. The device includes an inner shaft assembly, a delivery sheath assembly, an outer stability tube, and a handle. The sheath assembly is slidably disposed over the inner shaft, and includes a capsule and a shaft. The capsule compressively contains the prosthesis over the inner shaft. The stability tube is slidably disposed over the delivery sheath, and includes a distal region configured to be radially expandable from a first shape having a first diameter to a second shape having a larger, second diameter. In a first delivery state, the distal region assumes the first shape, providing a low profile appropriate for traversing a patient's vasculature. In a second delivery state, the distal region has the expanded diameter second shape, sized to receive the capsule, such as when retracting the capsule to implant the prosthesis.

  • Publication number: 20110251675
Abstract: A delivery device for percutaneously deploying a stented prosthetic heart valve, including a delivery sheath, an inner shaft, and a spindle. The inner shaft is slidably disposed within a lumen of the delivery sheath. The spindle is attached to the shaft and includes a hub defining at least one longitudinal slot sized to slidably receive a post of the stented valve. An outer surface of the hub forms a curved proximal segment. The device provides a loaded state in which the delivery sheath retains the stented valve over the inner shaft and coupled to the spindle via the slot. In a deployed state, the distal end of the delivery sheath is withdrawn from the prosthesis to permit the stented valve to release from the slot, sliding along the curved outer surface of the hub.

  • Publication number: 20110098805
Abstract: Delivery devices and methods for percutaneously delivering a prosthetic valve to the heart of a patient. These prosthetic valves may be configured to provide complimentary features that promote optimal placement of the prosthetic valve in a native heart valve, such as the aortic valve, mitral valve, pulmonic valve, and/or tricuspid valve. The delivery device includes a release sheath assembly housed within an outer delivery sheath. A release sheath component of the assembly captures a portion of the prosthetic valve to the delivery device, and effectuates complete release of the prosthetic valve with retraction of the outer sheath.

  • Publication number: 20110098804
Abstract: A percutaneous stented valve delivery device including an inner shaft, a sheath, and a delivery capsule. The sheath slidably receives the inner shaft. A capsule proximal zone is attached to the sheath. A capsule distal zone is configured to transition between normal and flared states. A diameter of the distal zone is greater in the flared state, and the capsule includes a shape memory component that naturally assumes the normal state. The device is operable to perform a reversible partial deployment procedure in which a portion of the prosthesis is exposed distal the capsule and allowed to radially expand. Subsequently, with distal advancement of the capsule, the distal zone transitions to the flared state and imparts a collapsing force onto the prosthesis, causing the prosthesis to radially collapse and become recaptured within the delivery capsule. The capsule can include a laser cut tube encapsulated by a polymer.

  • Publication number: 20080255651
Abstract: A telescoping stability sheath and method of use, including a telescoping stability sheath for use with a stent delivery system having a delivery catheter and an introducer, the delivery catheter having a retractable sheath and a stability sheath stop axially slidable on the retractable sheath, the introducer having an introducer fitting slidably tightenable about the retractable sheath axially slidable within a sheath stop. The telescoping stability sheath includes a first segment slidably disposed about the retractable sheath, a second segment slidably disposed about the first segment, and a stability fitting attached to at least one of the first segment and the second segment. The stability fitting fixes a set length between the introducer fitting and the stability sheath stop when the stability fitting is engaged to lock the first segment to the second segment.

  • Patent number: 7166092
Abstract: A male urinary incontinence device comprises a cylindrical sheath with an open first end to receive the penis and a tubular connector at a second end for discharge of collected urine. A viscous gel strip is applied to the penis of a user and then to the upper inner circumference of the sheath as the sheath is applied to the penis. An elastic strap is applied to the upper outer circumference of the sheath, the gel strip and strap acting cooperatively to retain the sheath on the penis and to render the sheath leak proof in use. The sheath also includes a connector assembly for attachment of tubing and a urine collection vessel.
