  • Patent number: 11942649
Abstract: The disclosed technology relates to battery pack that includes a first prismatic cell having a first surface, and a second prismatic cell having a second surface, wherein the first prismatic cell and the second prismatic cell are electrically coupled and arranged such that the first surface and the second surface form an L-shaped pack surface. In some aspects, the battery pack includes an adhesive that is disposed on the pack surface away from a junction between the first surface and the second surface. A battery-powered electronic device and method of manufacture are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20240006590
Abstract: A battery includes a separator having a first side and a second side opposing the first side. The battery also includes an anode having an anode face that faces the first side of the separator, where the anode face includes an anode face surface area. The battery also includes a cathode having a cathode face that faces the second side of the separator, where the cathode face includes a cathode face surface area. A surface area ratio between the anode face surface area and the cathode face surface area is between 1.030 and 1.038.

  • Publication number: 20240006689
Abstract: A housing of a battery may be produced to have a reduced flange, such that an interior volume of the housing is increased. The housing may include a can and a cover welded to one another to form a flange of the housing. The cover may be generally planar, and the can may include a curved portion and a planar portion extending from the curved portion. The planar portion may be welded to the cover to form the flange. A weld seam between the can and the cover may begin generally at an end of the planar portion of the can adjacent to the curved portion, and the flange may be cut along or adjacent to the weld seam. In particular, a distance between a transition point of the curved portion of the can and an outermost end of the flange may be less than 300 microns.

  • Publication number: 20220293899
Abstract: The disclosed technology relates to manufacturing a battery cell. Manufacturing the battery cell can include applying a mask onto a first surface of a current collector, coating the first surface of the current collector with an active coating, removing the mask from the first surface of the current collector, stamping the current collector to form an anode layer with an uncoated tab, and arranging a stacked set of layers within an enclosure, such that the stacked set of layers comprise a cathode layer, the anode layer, and a separator layer disposed between the cathode layer and the anode layer.
