  • Patent number: 9517577
Abstract: A lubricating system indirectly applies a bladder release agent to a green tire and cures the green tire in a tire curing machine. The system includes a deposition device and a curing bladder. The deposition device directly applies bladder release agent on to a deposition bladder. The deposition bladder is inflated within the green tire in order to deposit the bladder release agent on to an inner surface of the green tire. The curing bladder subsequently receives the green tire with bladder release agent deposited therein and cures the green tire.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 7, 2016
Date of Patent: December 13, 2016
Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
Inventors: Roger Allan Mohler, John Michael Maloney, Stephanie Pershern Gebby, Joshua Randall Elsass, Nathan Andrew Hunt

  • Patent number: 9027611
Abstract: A tire has a circumferential tread, the tread including shoulder tread regions configured for off-road performance separated by and interlocking with a center tread region configured for on-road performance. The shoulder tread regions are defined by a repeating pattern of two or more distinct shoulder tread elements and the center tread region is defined by a repeating pattern of two or more distinct center tread elements. The shoulder tread elements each have a ground contacting surface area greater than a ground contacting surface area of the center tread elements. The center tread elements extend at a relatively greater angle of inclination with respect to an equatorial centerplane of the tire and the shoulder tread elements extend at a relatively lesser angle of inclination with respect to the centerplane.

  • Publication number: 20090194212
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a pneumatic tire comprising an axis of rotation and a tread. The tread has a plurality of traction elements and a discharge groove. The discharge groove has a base interposed between radially extending sides formed by side walls of the traction elements. The base of the discharge groove defines a matrix of circumferentially extending rectangular ramp structures. One ramp structure of the matrix extends circumferentially, from a radially inner first end portion, in a direction of rotation of the tire and radially outward to a radially outer second end portion. The radially outer second end portion defines an edge portion extending parallel to the axis of rotation of the tire. The edge portion improves traction of the tire and evacuation of the discharge groove.
