  • Publication number: 20050126701
Abstract: A printing stock assembly for printing identification badges with a roll-fed label printer includes a release liner and a plurality of stock badges. The release liner may have a plurality of spaced apart weakening lines. Each of the stock badges includes a face stock and an adhesive layer. The stock badges are releasably attached to the release liner in single-file manner between the weakening lines, respectively. The face stock the stock badges includes a verso half and a recto half divided by a fold line. In addition, the face stock may include a pair of strap apertures formed in the verso and recto halves in a mirror image about the fold line. Accordingly, after printing, a stock badge may be removed from the release liner, thereby exposing the adhesive layer. The face stock may then be folded about the fold line such that the adhesive layer of the verso half is adherent to the adhesive layer of the recto half to form a two-sided identification badge.

  • Patent number: 6146770
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an ink jet recording medium. The ink jet recording medium has an ink absorbent layer provided upon a substrate, with a humidity barrier layer provided upon the ink absorbent layer. The ink absorbent layer comprises a blend of poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline), poly(vinyl pyrollidone), and a hydrophobic polymer, and the humidity barrier layer comprises a blend of polyethylene oxide and boehmite alumina. The ink jet recording medium is fast drying over different relative humidity conditions, making it particularly suitable for high speed printing applications.

  • Patent number: 6120900
Abstract: A water-insoluble liquid-absorbent material comprising a cross-linked matrix containing a polymer having at least two cross-linkable functional end groups and substantially free of cross-linking functional groups elsewhere within the polymer that are crosslinked with a cross-linking agent having a functionality greater than two, and in combination therewith, a dye-fixing agent having at least one reactive functional group. An ink jet recording medium having a coating of the water-insoluble liquid-absorbent material on a surface thereof is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5866268
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an ink jet recording media containing a substrate having a liquid sorptive coating coated on a surface thereof. The liquid sorptive coating contains a hydroxyalkyl methylcellulose and at least one nitrogen-containing component. The hydroxyalkyl methylcellulose is preferably present in the coating in an amount of about 70 to about 98%, based on the amount of solids in the coating. The hydroxyalkyl methylcellulose also preferably has a hydroxyalkyl content of from about 3% to about 15%, preferably about 7% to about 12%, and a methoxyl content of from about 15% to about 28%, preferably about 19% to about 24%.
