  • Publication number: 20220356303
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to novel lipidated poly(amino acid)s (LPAAs). The present disclosure is further related to processes for preparing such novel lipidated poly(amino acid)s (LPAAs) and for preparing novel lipidated poly(amino acid)s nanoparticles (LPAANPs). Additionally, the present disclosure relates to processes for utilizing lipidated poly(amino acid)s (LPAAs) that are biocompatible and capable of drug delivery.

  • Patent number: 11286489
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a composition that includes an amphiphile, its use in a method of preventing and/or treating cancer, and its use in a method of producing a pharmaceutical composition. In certain embodiments, the amphiphile includes a hydrophilic peptide that binds to a Plenty of SH3 domain (POSH) and inhibits or disrupts a POSH scaffold network, a hydrophobic moiety, and an aptamer. The present invention is also directed to other POSH inhibitor complex biomolecules that do not contain a hydrophobic moiety.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 13, 2017
Date of Patent: March 29, 2022
Assignee: THE CURATORS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI
Inventors: Mark Daniels, Bret Ulery, David Porciani, Kwaku Tawiah, Josiah Smith, Leah Cardwell, Donald Burke, Erin Newcomer
  • Publication number: 20200339661
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention is directed to triblock peptides comprising a lipid moiety, a peptide block and a zwittenon-like block. Another aspect of the invention is directed to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the triblock peptides of the present in invention arranged in micelles in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. In certain embodiments, the pharmaceutical compositions of the present invention are vaccine compositions, which may further comprise an adjuvant. Another aspect of the invention is directed to methods of using the triblock peptides and compositions of the invention to treat a disease or condition.

  • Patent number: 10350613
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manipulating polarizable dielectric particles. The method includes positioning a liquid containing the particles above a surface of a piezoelectric material (2). The method also includes inducing a shear-horizontal surface acoustic wave in the piezoelectric material (2), thereby to form a time-varying non-uniform evanescent electric field extending into the liquid. The method further includes using the time-varying non-uniform evanescent electric field to apply a force to at least some of the particles (50, 52) by dielectrophoresis.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 8, 2014
Date of Patent: July 16, 2019
    Assignee: UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS
Inventors: Christoph Walti, Alban Josiah Smith, Richard O'Rorke, Alexander Giles Davies, Christopher David Wood

  • Publication number: 20180194967
Abstract: The present invention, in certain embodiments, is directed to a peptide amphiphile coating on the hydrophobic surface of an object, such as a medical device, in which non-covalent associations attach the hydrophobic portion of the peptide amphiphile to the hydrophobic surface. Other embodiments of the invention are directed to a method for forming the coating.
