Patent number: 8166935Abstract: A control system of an internal combustion engine changing an operating timing of a valve in an internal combustion engine where a valve drive cam (13) and a pump drive cam (150) are both provided on a valve camshaft (1) is provided. That control system has a device inhibiting the operating timing from being returned in a direction reverse to the direction of the target operating timing during change of the operating timing. Further, in the control system, the relative rotational phases of the valve drive cam and the pump drive cam are set considering utilization of the composite reaction torque of the valve operation drive reaction torque and the fuel pump drive reaction torque acting on the valve camshaft for changing the operating timing in the direction of the target operating timing.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2008Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Denso CorporationInventors: Akira Eiraku, Jouji Yamaguchi

Patent number: 7475662Abstract: A feed screw mechanism including a screwed shaft which moves linearly along with the control shaft, and a rotation spindle which rotates in a circumferential direction. The feed screw mechanism converts a rotational movement of the rotation spindle into a linear movement of the screwed shaft. A protrusion protrudes outwardly from the rotation spindle. An internal thread member engages with an outer wall surface of the rotation spindle. A motor stator generating a magnetic is positioned over the rotation spindle, and is sandwiched between the protrusion and the internal thread member in an axial direction of the rotation spindle.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2006Date of Patent: January 13, 2009Assignees: Denso Corporation, Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yasuyoshi Suzuki, Hideo Inaba, Jouji Yamaguchi, Toshiki Fujiyoshi, Akira Tsunoda, Koichi Shimizu

Patent number: 7100553Abstract: An actuator for a valve lift control device linearly moves a control shaft to change a valve lift in accordance with an axial position of the control shaft. A first and a second rotation cam integrally rotate around a common rotation axis by transmission of torque, so that a direct acting follower, which includes a first and a contact members, linearly moves with a control shaft. The first and a second rotation cams are respectively in contact with the first and the second contact members via a first and a second contact points. The first contact point is located on the opposite side of the second contact point with respect to the rotation axis. A sum of a first rotation cam lift of the first rotation cam and a second rotation cam lift of the second rotation cam is substantially constant in a predetermined rotation angular range of the first rotation cam and the second rotation cam.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2005Date of Patent: September 5, 2006Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Yasuyoshi Suzuki, Akihiko Kameshima, Hideo Inaba, Jouji Yamaguchi

Patent number: 6182623Abstract: In a variable valve control device, the minimum operating hydraulic pressure necessary for controlling the vane rotor is arranged to be higher than that for axially moving the piston member. Thus, whenever the angular phase is actually changed, the hydraulic pressure sufficient enough to move the piston member may be always ready to be applied to the axial movement control member. Therefore, when the intake camshaft is at the lowest lift stroke position, the intake camshaft may be easily shifted from the lowest lift stroke position to the higher lift stroke position without time delay so that a highly accurate angular phase control of the intake camshaft relative to the timing pulley may be secured.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1999Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Nobuhiko Sugie, Jouji Yamaguchi, Osamu Sato, Yoshihito Moriya, Shinichiro Kikuoka, Noriyuki Iden

Patent number: 6135078Abstract: A cam has a profile variable from a high lift curve to a low lift curve in an axial direction. A driving mechanism shifts a cam shaft in the axial direction. A phase adjusting mechanism adjusts the rotational phase of the cam shaft relative to a driving shaft of the internal combustion engine. Angle detecting teeth are shift detecting teeth are alternately arranged on a same cylindrical surface of the cam shaft. Each shift detecting tooth incline at a predetermined angle with respect to an axis of the cam shaft so as to provide angularly advanced and retarded portions in a rotational direction of the cam shaft. A pickup generates sensing signals responsive to the angle detecting teeth and the shift detecting teeth. The sensor faces the angularly advanced portion of the shift detecting tooth when the low lift curve of the cam is selected and faces the angularly retarded portion of the shift detecting tooth when the high lift curve of the cam is selected.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1998Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Toshinori Doi, Osamu Sato, Jouji Yamaguchi, Akira Hori

Patent number: 6035818Abstract: A variable valve control apparatus which is capable of reducing the size of the entire apparatus. A rotary member is assembled with a timing pulley by a bolt so that it rotates together with the timing pulley. A cylinder head supports the rotary member rotatably but axially immovably. The rotary member supports an intake camshaft rotatably and axially movably. Even if the intake camshaft is axially moved and changed in rotational phase relative to the timing pulley as arc-shaped gears move axially, the rotational phase between an exhaust camshaft and the timing pulley does not change.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1999Date of Patent: March 14, 2000Assignees: Denso Corporation, Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Osamu Sato, Jouji Yamaguchi, Yoshihito Moriya, Noriyuki Iden, Shinitiro Kikuoka, Kiyoshi Sugimoto

Patent number: 5759351Abstract: A slurry of suspended formation fiber and binder fiber is brought to pass through a suction unit to form a molded member. Longitudinally extending channel portions are formed on both inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the molded member, and a wall portion is formed to close one end of the channel portions of the inner peripheral surface. Further, opposite surfaces of the channel portion at the other end of the molded member are closed by pressing from outside and bonded by binder resin which is impregnated into the molded member.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1996Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshihiro Takahara, Keizou Funae, Jouji Yamaguchi, Takeharu Maekawa
