    Abstract: Elements (2), which are used in a medical activity, are stored in a storage space (3) including a plurality of partitions (4) which are each dedicated to receiving a certain type of element (2) assigned to a predetermined medical activity. A user interface (6) selects a preferred medical activity from a plurality of medical activities. In response to the input activity, the partition (4) which holds the corresponding element (2) signals to indicate the correct element (2) to be used for the selected activity. In this manner the medical staff is offered ‘intelligent’ management of medical accessories and space, which helps the staff in organizing elements in an efficient and time- saving manner. In addition, a more flexible working environment contributes to the clinical staff feeling freer at work.

The soft keys are displayed as a number of distinguishable groups of soft keys. A user first selects a particular group of soft keys. Then the soft keys are related to the hard keys of an input device on the basis of the relation of the soft key to its group and of the hard key to the input device respectively. Pressing a particular hard key results in the selection of the thus related soft key. The number of hard keys is equal to the number of soft keys in a group, rather than equal to the total number of soft keys.

    Abstract: An apparatus detects a specifically reacting substance in a test liquid. The apparatus has a housing and a holding device thereon for holding a test strip. The test strip has a material that transports a test liquid essentially by capillary forces and has an analytical system which indicates the presence or absence of the substance to be detected. The holding device can be attached to the housing with an opening therebetween for allowing evaporation of test liquid. The housing can be elongated for accepting a sample collector therein. A contact mechanism can also be disposed for promoting contact of liquid sample from the sample collector when inserted in the housing, to the test strip held by the holding device.
