  • Patent number: 8143803
Abstract: In a method of driving a lamp using a lamp control circuit, the lamp control circuit comprises a communication circuit and a lamp driving circuit. The lamp driving circuit is configured to drive a lamp in accordance with a number of lamp operating parameters. The method comprises providing a lamp operating parameter to a memory of the communication circuit; providing a supply voltage to the lamp driving circuit; and supplying the lamp operating parameter from the memory to the lamp driving circuit. Then, driving the lamp by the lamp driving circuit corresponding to the supplied lamp operating parameter In the lamp control circuit, the communication circuit comprises a memory and is configured to supply the lamp operating parameter to the lamp driving circuit, when the lamp driving circuit is supplied with a supply voltage. In an embodiment, the lamp operating parameter may be supplied to the memory when no supply voltage is supplied to the lamp control circuit.

  • Publication number: 20080278083
Abstract: A ballast circuit receiving power from the mains and supplying a high frequency lamp current to a lamp is equipped with means to generate both a common mode current and a differential mode current through the mains supply terminals. Both these currents are phase shifted 180 degrees with respect to the lamp current. In this way currents induced in the mains supply terminals by means of parasitic capacitive coupling and magnetic coupling between conductors carrying the lamp current and the mains supply terminals are cancelled.

  • Patent number: 7064501
Abstract: A circuit arrangement is described for generating a sawtooth current in a cathode ray tube deflection coil. The circuit arrangement has a first and a second multiresonant section. The sections are arranged in series. The cathode ray tube deflection coil is part of the first section. The second section has an inductor. Each section provides a trace period in which the sawtooth current is generated in the cathode ray tube deflection coil and a retrace period in which flyback of the sawtooth current is provided. The circuit arrangement further has a current control circuit coupled to the inductor for controlling the course of the sawtooth current.

  • Publication number: 20030080698
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a picture display device for reducing cathode drive-induced deflection errors in an index type cathode ray tube (CRT), and especially a flat intelligent tracking (FIT) CRT. The method comprises the steps of generating at least one electron beam; driving said beam by modulating a cathode potential; predicting a deflection error for the beam due to the cathode drive; and controlling compensation means in accordance with said prediction for reducing said deflection error.

  • Patent number: 6528958
Abstract: The invention relates to a display device comprising a cathode ray tube including an electron source and an electron beam guidance cavity having an entrance aperture and an exit aperture for concentrating electrons emitted from the cathode in an electron beam. Furthermore, the cathode ray tube comprises a first electrode which is connectable to a first power supply for applying, in operation, an electric field with a first field strength E1 between the cathode and the exit aperture. &dgr;1 and E1 have values, which allow electron transport through the electron beam guidance cavity. Furthermore, a modulating means positioned between the cathode and the exit aperture is present for modulating a beam current to the display screen. According to the invention, the display device is provided with switching means for preventing the electron beam from passing through the exit aperture in a blanking period and for passing the electron beam through the exit aperture in a display period.
