  • Publication number: 20070235691
Abstract: A composition for making a polyurethane foam includes a non-fugitive tertiary amine urethane catalyst and an ester alcohol or substituted carbamate thereof. Foams prepared from the reaction of a polyol and an organic isocyanate in the presence of these ingredients show excellent resistance to deterioration of physical properties upon humid ageing.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20060235098
Abstract: A method is provided for preparing polyurethane foams, which comprises contacting at least one organic isocyanate compound, at least one polyol, at least one blowing agent, and a tertiary amine catalyst composition. The catalyst composition has the general formula wherein R1, R2, and Y are, independently, an alkyl group having from one to three carbon atoms or —CH2CH2OH; Z is —CH2CH2OH; and n is an integer from 3 to 7, inclusive. Also provided is a method for catalyzing the reaction between at least one isocyanate compound and at least one active hydrogen-containing compound, such as a polyol and/or a blowing agent.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: October 19, 2006
    Inventors: Juan Burdeniuc, Douglas Freyberger
  • Publication number: 20060211783
Abstract: Tertiary amines useful as catalysts for preparing polyurethane foams are provided. Tertiary amines are employed to catalyze the trimerization reaction of isocyanates and the reaction between isocyanates and active hydrogen-containing compounds, such as a polyol and/or a blowing agent. Such tertiary amine has the general formula wherein R1, R2, Y, Z, and n are defined herein.

  • Publication number: 20050090386
Abstract: A catalyst composition for catalyzing a polyurethane forming reaction includes a gelling catalyst and a blowing catalyst selected such that the resulting polyurethane foam has a low level of volatile and/or malodorous material in it. The gelling catalysts are selected from tertiary aminoalkyl substituted primary or secondary amines; and the blowing catalysts are selected from bis(aminoalkyl) ethers comprising alkanol moieties, primary amine moieties, or ureido moieties derived from such primary amine moieties.
