  • Patent number: 10739459
Abstract: A system including a processor and a memory, the memory including instructions to be executed by the processor to determine map data, determine uncalibrated LIDAR data, determine a location of a vehicle in the map data by combining the map data with the uncalibrated LIDAR data, and operate the vehicle based on the location of the vehicle in the map data.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 12, 2018
Date of Patent: August 11, 2020
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
    Inventor: Juan Castorena Martinez
  • Patent number: 10628920
Abstract: A system and methods are described for generating a super-resolution depth-map. A method includes: determining a plurality of unmeasured depth-map positions using measured depth-elements from a first sensor and spatial-elements from a second sensor; for each of the plurality, calculating estimated depth-elements using a gradient-based optimization; and generating a super-resolution depth-map that comprises the measured and estimated depth-elements.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 2018
Date of Patent: April 21, 2020
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Inventors: Juan Castorena Martinez, Gintaras Vincent Puskorius
  • Patent number: 10582121
Abstract: A method for fusing measurements of sensors having different resolutions performs jointly a calibration of the sensors and a fusion of the their measurements to produce calibration parameters defining a geometrical mapping between coordinate systems of the sensors and a fused set of measurements that includes the modality of a sensor with resolution greater than its resolution. The calibration and the fusion are performed jointly to update the calibration parameters and the fused set of measurements in dependence on each other.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 12, 2016
Date of Patent: March 3, 2020
Inventors: Ulugbek Kamilov, Juan Castorena, Petros Boufounos
  • Patent number: 10565682
Abstract: A computer that includes a processor and memory that stores processor-executable instructions. The processor can be programmed to: generate a plurality of transform patch images (PTPIs) by applying a mathematical transform operator to a plurality of map-perspective patch images (PMPPIs) received from at least one vehicle laser-scanner; combine at least some of the PTPIs into a single patch image; and construct a map patch image using the single patch image.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 7, 2016
Date of Patent: February 18, 2020
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
