  • Patent number: 5535927
Abstract: An improved garment hanger is provided with a coating of resilient friction material on the upper surfaces of the garment support members to provide non-slip surfaces for garments such as coats, shirts, blouses and dresses and help prevent the garments from falling off the garment hanger and onto the floor. The application of resilient friction material applies equally to pant bars. The improved resilient friction material comprising a block copolymer having discreet block segments of styrene monomer units and rubber monomer units.

  • Patent number: 5183191
Abstract: A clamp-type garment hanger with pads of resilient friction material on the inner clamping surfaces of the garment clamp assemblies to provide non-slip surfaces for garments such as trousers, skirts and the like. The non-slip surfaces on the clamp assemblies prevent the garments from slipping through the clamp asssemblies and falling onto the floor. The application of resilient friction material to the inner clamping surfaces applies equally to all types of clamp-type garment hangers. The resilient friction material used on the clamping surfaces comprises a block copolymer having discreet block segments of styrene monomer units and rubber monomer units.

  • Patent number: 5029739
Abstract: A drop loop hanger for maintaining two piece garments in a stable and attractive condition for retail customers includes clip means formed either integrally with the drop loop or as a separate member and, by virtue of the inherent resiliency of the clip means and a multi-point support on either side of the vertical shank of the drop loop, stabilizes the drop loop with respect to the hook hanger.

  • Patent number: 4565309
Abstract: A garment hanger has upper and lower bars joined at one end by a hinge of a construction which biases the lower jaw into an open position but resists a significant further opening movement even under the weight of a garment draped over it. The two bars are vertically superimposed with the lower bar being longer than the upper bar. A garment clamp is supported on the end of the upper bar distal from the hinge. The clamp has a pair of jaws forming a pocket between them centered over the lower bar. The jaws, when closed, embrace the lower bar and any garment draped over it for holding the garment against displacement from or along the lower bar.

  • Patent number: 4446996
Abstract: An article clamp for a hanger is described which has a molded one-piece body of generally H-shape. A spring on one side of the central web pivots the legs about the web to provide a clamping action. A channel extends laterally across the outer face of one of the legs in general alignment with the web joining the legs. The channel opens through the outer face of the leg with the opening being substantially narrower than the cross-sectional width of the channel. The clamp is mounted on a rod-like support by insertion of the rod through the channel with the rod-like support serving as a rigid fulcrum when the clamp grips an article.

  • Patent number: 4381599
Abstract: A machine is disclosed for securing clamping garment hangers to individual garments and includes a hanger holding magazine with fixed and movable stops to release the hangers one-by-one to an attaching station where the hanger is automatically positioned to receive a garment. The station also includes reciprocable cantilevered arms for closing and locking the hanger on the garment. Also disclosed is a special package for bulk shipment of the hangers, collated into groups suitable for charging the magazine.

  • Patent number: 4198773
Abstract: A tally system of article identification to be mounted on an article support such as a garment hanger is disclosed. In one form, tubular tallies are initially manufactured as an extruded tube and then severed into individual units of suitable length. In another form, they are individually manufactured. The article support may be provided with an upstanding boss or other projection over which the tallies are seated. The tallies and boss or other projection may be equipped with means for circumferentially indexing the tally to assure proper display. The tallies, as used, preferably have suitable information indicia applied to their exterior surface.

  • Patent number: 4194274
Abstract: A clamp type garment hanger including a garment grip construction is disclosed. The hanger includes at least one clamp having a pair of hinged clamp members, each of which includes an inner surface. A spring clip biases the inner surfaces of the clamp members towards each other to clamp a garment therebetween. The opposed inner surfaces of the clamp members define a serpentine or generally S-shaped passage within which the article to be suspended is clamped. A plurality of opposed, elongated projections extend outwardly from the inner surfaces of each of said clamp members into the S-shaped passage.

  • Patent number: 4187967
Abstract: A garment hanger is disclosed which has a molded plastic body to which a separate, preferably metal, hook is attached after the molding is complete. The molded body has a locking collar molded integrally with it but attached by a weak, rupturable web or stem. When the hook is assembled to the body, its shank is forced through the collar so that the collar becomes firmly secured to the shank and thereafter prevents separation of the hook and body. In one form of the invention, the forcing of the shank through the collar detaches it from the body, permitting the collar and hook to rotate freely with respect to the hanger body. In another form, the attachment between the hook and body remain intact until a subsequent maneuver is performed to cause separation of hook and hanger body.

  • Patent number: 4177908
Abstract: A molded pants hanger includes a lower bar and an upper bar positioned above and spaced from the lower bar in the same vertical plane. Adjacent ends of the upper and lower bars are detachably and hingedly interconnected with the upper bar movable from an open position to closed position generally parallel with the lower bar. A support hook is joined to the center of the lower bar. A side latch including an L-shaped member integral with the free end of the lower bar cooperates with a recess formed in the free end of the upper bar to latch the upper bar to the lower bar.

  • Patent number: 4101059
Abstract: A tally having suitable information imprinted thereon is formed from flexible, sheet material and defines a locking detent notch opening through a transverse edge thereof. Extending outwardly from the transverse edge opposite the locking detent notch is an indexing or stop tab. A hanger includes a tally attaching means having a recess defined by opposed walls or flanges having grooves formed therein. One of the grooves includes an inwardly directed detent adapted to snap fit into the notch of the tally. The other groove is of stepped configuration in cross section and includes a stop against which the tab abuts when the tally is inserted between the grooves.

  • Patent number: 4046293
Abstract: A garment hanger includes a central head portion and outwardly extending arms. Each of the arms defines adjacent their ends a socket for receipt of the ends of a pants bar. The pants bar includes at each end a resilient detent finger having a barbed head. The barbed head snaps into an aperture formed in the wall of the socket to thereby positively lock the pants bar to the hanger. The pants bar is detachable upon intentional manual shifting of the resilient locking fingers.

  • Patent number: 4017990
Abstract: An attachment for use with an article hanger such as a garment hanger is disclosed to provide a display means for indicia. The attachment is designed for use with a tubular tally surrounding the shank or the support hook of the hanger. A portion of the attachment is designed to be inserted in the open top of the tally. The part so inserted is wider than the inside diameter of the tally and is either partially folded and inserted in the tally or the tally is slightly distorted before the attachment is inserted. By virtue of the resilience of either the attachment or the tally or both, a tight wedging engagement is formed which firmly secures the attachment to the tally.

  • Patent number: 4007861
Abstract: A connector for supporting one hook suspended garment hanger from another in a vertically spaced relationship, takes the form of an elongated strip of flexible, sheet-like material having tension sustaining characteristics. The upper quarter of the connector includes an opening for receiving the hook of the upper one of the hangers. The lower portion of the connector includes a pair of spaced, parallel, longitudinally extending slits thereby defining a strap for attachment of the hook of the lower one of the hangers.
