  • Publication number: 20100170955
Abstract: This invention addresses issue of rail seat abrasion by completely removing all elastomers from directly contacting the rail by utilizing a shoulder post with a lower portion that is coated or encapsulated with a nonconductive material and a rolled or cast tie plate design that introduces a tie plate to the rail seat of the concrete tie. The coated or encapsulated lower portion of the shoulder is then cast into the concrete. By having the pad between the plate and the tie, it is subjected to vertical compression only with no rubbing action.

  • Publication number: 20100127091
Abstract: The present invention is a joint bar wherein the load is transferred from the wheel thread and top of rail onto the wheel flange by means of a ramp built into the inside joint bar. The increasing ramp height ensures that the wheel does not impact the receiving rail. When the wheel has crossed the joint the decreasing ramp action transfers the load back to the wheel thread and onto the top of the rail.

  • Publication number: 20100096468
Abstract: The present invention is directed at an improved device for joining together abutting railway rails between two railway ties. The rails to be joined together have a head portion, a web portion and a toe portion. The saddle is split at the bottom and joined with the two bottom (lower) bolts. The saddle hugs the base of the rail at the joint preventing differential vertical (shearing) displacement of the two rail ends. This can be used in insulated and non-insulated joints. The bolts are isolated from the bars and saddle and directly contact the rail.
