    Abstract: A method for the preparation of a lithographic printing plate comprises forming an oleophilic image on the surface of a hydrophilic support by depositing, preferably by ink-jetting, the desired image on the surface using an aqueous emulsion of an organic film-forming polymer which has been prepared by emulsion polymerization, whereby the polymer adheres to the surface of the printing plate forming an oleophilic film. The polymer preferably has functional groups such as sulphonate that bind the polymer to the hydrophilic surface. Preferably the polymer has a glass transition temperature of not greater than about 105° C. and where the glass transition temperature is above 50° C. the polymer, after deposition on the plate, is preferably subjected to a heat treatment to assist in film formation.

After removal of the non-imaged areas, the resulting imaging member can be used for lithographic printing. The fluid-receiving layer is designed to protect the resulting imaging member from fingerprints or other handling defects.

    Abstract: A method of producing a radiation-induced colorant transfer image on a support, includes the steps of: providing an image-receiving element comprising a support having thereon an image-receiving layer; providing a colorant donor element having a colorant transfer layer on a colorant element support and wherein colorant can be transferred from a transfer surface of the colorant donor element to the image-receiving element in response to selectively applied radiation; providing a uniformly reflecting opaque element that is sufficiently opaque to radiation at the wavelengths of the radiation source; causing the image-receiving element to be contacted with the colorant donor element and these elements to be positioned between the radiation source and the uniformly reflecting opaque element; and applying radiation to the colorant donor element to cause colorant to transfer to the image-receiving element.

    Abstract: A method for preparing a color filter array element is diclosed which includes the steps of forming an assembly by providing a support on which is coated a polymeric dye image-receiving layer; a stencil pattern on the dye image-receiving layer with holes corresponding to the desired color pixel array pattern; and a dye donor sheet over the stencil. The dye donor has a support film overcoated with a mixture of color dye, polymeric binder, and light absorber. The method further includes exposing the assembly to high intensity light to briefly heat the dye layer and thereby transfer the dye from the donor to the polymeric dye receiving layer so that a colored pattern of pixel elements are formed in or on the image-receiving layer.
