  • Publication number: 20200348300
Abstract: The present invention provides novel Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculsis (MAP) derived antigens which may be used to diagnose and thereafter effectively treat animals that have been infected with MAP, Further provided are methods of determining whether an animal is infected with MAP, and methods of diagnosing and treating Johne's disease. The invention also relates to a kit for the implementation of the methods.

  • Patent number: 9175049
Abstract: Compositions of immunogenic proteins of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) are effective for stimulating a protective immune response in animals against MAP. Combinations of MAP1087 with two or more of MAP1204, MAP1272c and MAP2077c are effective for stimulating a protective immune response in animals against MAP and can be administered as vaccines against paratuberculosis (Johne's disease). Induction of the immune response significantly reduces or eliminates colonization of the animal by MAP, and consequently reduces or eliminates the symptoms of clinical disease in animals infected with MAP and reduces or eliminates fecal shedding of MAP. Vaccination with the compositions provides protection against clinical disease and reduces transmission of MAP infection within a herd.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 26, 2013
Date of Patent: November 3, 2015
Assignee: The United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of Agriculture

  • Patent number: 6277580
Abstract: An M. paratuberculosis gene referred to as hspX provides a useful target region for the construction of suitable probes and primers that are species-specific for distinguishing M. paratuberculosis from related mycobacteria in a test sample. M. paratuberculosis is the causative agent of Johne's disease and has been isolated from human patients with Crohn's disease.
