    Abstract: A cable tie is disclosed. The cable tie has a band and a fastening slot. The band is provided with a plurality of ribs, and the fastening slot is formed with an engaging portion for engaging the ribs when the band passes through the fastening slot so as to bind articles. The engaging portion is provided with at least one engaging tooth. A distance between a tip of the engaging tooth and the fixed end of the engaging portion and along a lengthwise direction of the band is smaller than a distance between the free end and the fixed end of the engaging portion and along the lengthwise direction of the band, and which prevents the engaging portion from being broken due to shearing effect applied by the ribs when the cable tie is operated in a low-temperature environment such as minus 40 degrees Celsius.

The first protrusions are formed at lateral sides of the window. Two lateral sides of the second side wall are attached to the first side walls. Each of the first protrusions is disposed at the side corresponding to the position where each of first side walls faces the window. The tooth unit has first engaging teeth. The strap body has second engaging teeth for engaging the first engaging teeth. The second protrusions extend above the window from two lateral sides of the tooth unit. A slit is formed between each facing pair of the first protrusion and the second protrusion.

The locking element includes a bottom plate, first walls, a second wall, and an operating rod. The bottom plate is formed with a window. A predefined gap is formed between the operating rod and the first walls. The operating rod has an arm extending therefrom and first meshing teeth thereon. An aperture is formed at such a position on the bottom plate that the projection of the arm lies at the position on the bottom plate. The band has a first top side and a bottom side with second meshing teeth thereon. The first and second meshing teeth are in mesh. The band is thinner than the bottom plate. The thickness of the band is larger than the distance between the top end of the first meshing teeth and the second wall.
