Patent number: 9458821Abstract: A rotor blade assembly for a wind turbine has a rotor blade. A strip-member blade accessory is mounted to one of the rotor blade surfaces that stretches under normal operating conditions of the wind turbine. The blade accessory has a base portion. An attachment layer connects the base portion to the rotor blade surface and has a lower shear modulus than the base portion to allow for shear slippage between the base portion and the underlying rotor blade surface.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2012Date of Patent: October 4, 2016Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Eric Morgan Jacobsen, Bruce Clark Busbey, Qi Zhu, Scott Gabell Riddell, Juergen Esser, Jan Willem Bakhuis, Pradeepa Nagabhushana

Patent number: 7976276Abstract: A rotor blade assembly for a wind turbine is disclosed. The rotor blade assembly includes a rotor blade having a pressure side, a suction side, a leading edge, and a trailing edge extending between a tip and a root, the rotor blade further defining a pitch axis. The rotor blade assembly further includes a noise reducer mounted to the rotor blade. The noise reducer includes a base plate defining a base line, a plurality of noise reduction features extending from the base line, and a plurality of apertures defined in the base plate. Each aperture is positioned on an opposite side of the base line from the plurality of noise reduction features such that the aperture is fully defined in the base plate.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2010Date of Patent: July 12, 2011Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Scott Gabell Riddell, Traci Marlene Vandervort, Juergen Esser, Roger Drobietz

Patent number: 6725696Abstract: A rotatable disc having a tubular lock assembly including a tubular sleeve and a number of disc tumblers located within the sleeve. A side locking bar is operative to prevent rotation of the assembly relative to a body, and that bar is rendered inoperative by insertion of a correct key into the lock keyway. The disc tumblers include a number of standard tumblers and a special tumbler. The locking bar is inoperative when each standard tumbler is at a service position of rotation and the special tumbler is at either a service position or a second function position of rotation. A service key is operable to place all tumblers at the service position, and a special change key is operable to place the special tumbler at the second function position to allow removal of the barrel assembly.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2000Date of Patent: April 27, 2004Assignee: Lockwood Australia Pty Ltd.Inventors: Brian Blight, Hans Juergen Esser
