  • Patent number: 9018877
Abstract: A system for determining if a tire of a vehicle is improperly inflated. The system includes a radar, a wheel speed sensor, and a controller. The radar is configured to emit a signal to detect a reflection of the signal off of an object positioned perpendicular to the vehicle, and to output an indication of a speed of the vehicle. The wheel speed sensor is configured to sense a speed of a wheel of the vehicle. The controller is configured to receive the indication of the speed of the vehicle from the radar, to calculate a speed of the vehicle based on the sensed speed of the wheel, and to determine a tire of the wheel is improperly inflated when the speed of the vehicle calculated using the wheel speed sensor varies by more than a predetermined amount from the speed of the vehicle determined using the radar signal.

  • Patent number: 8214965
Abstract: The invention relates to a windscreen wiper device (10), in particular for a motor vehicle, screwed to a chassis (12). Conventional windscreen wiper devices do not yield on an impact with a pedestrian and hence represent a significant injury risk for pedestrians. According to the invention, the risk of injury may be reduced whereby the housing openings (30), provided for housing screws (11) in the chassis (12) comprise a slot (31) at the edge of the housing opening (30).

  • Patent number: 8156604
Abstract: A windshield wiper device (10), particularly for a motor vehicle, is proposed. This windshield wiper device comprises a wiper bearing (14) supporting a wiper shaft (16), which has an undercut (48) in which a securing device (40) for axially fixing the wiper shaft (16) in the wiper bearing (14) is arranged. The securing device (40) can be displaced by the effects of a defined axial force component (F) on the wiper shaft (16), whereby the wiper shaft (16) can be displaced in relationship to the wiper bearing (14). According to the invention, the securing device (40) comprises a bushing section (42) with an indentation (50), which engages in the undercut (48) of the wiper shaft (16).

  • Patent number: 7618077
Abstract: A windshield wiper device with fastening points (16), by means of which the windshield wiper device is fastened to a body (14) of a motor vehicle. Until now windshield wiper systems were screwed or riveted to the vehicle body so that special tools and a relatively great amount of time are required. The aim of the invention is improving the windshield wiper device so that it can be mounted on the vehicle body more quickly and therefore more cost-effectively. As a result, according to the invention, at least one of the fastening points (16) can move towards the vehicle body (14) for mounting the windshield wiper device.

  • Patent number: 7562927
Abstract: The invention relates to a windshield wiper device, in particular for a motor vehicle, with a molded tube (10) that is connected to the bodywork (13) and/or a mounting plate that is connected to the bodywork (13), which is particularly a mounting plate for a wiper motor. The windshield wiper device is located in a region, which is often an impact zone in a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. As a result, the components of the windshield wiper device often represent a high risk of injury to pedestrians. The objective of the invention is to improve the windshield wiper device so that the risk of injury to pedestrians is reduced during a collision with the vehicle.
