  • Patent number: 7798949
Abstract: A spreader roll has at least two partial rolls (10, 20, 30) with a composite shell (11, 21, 31) and two end part rolls (10, 30) connected together directly or by an intermediate part roll (20) so a gap (D) remains between the end surfaces of the shells (11, 21, 31) of the partial rolls (10, 20, 30). An end journal (12, 32) is connected to the outer end of the roll shell (11, 31) of each end part roll (10, 30). Each end journal is supported to frame constructions (R) by an end bearing (40, 50). The partial rolls (10, 20, 30) are connected by an intermediate journal (13, 33) rotating with the roll shells (11, 21, 31) of the partial rolls (10, 20, 30). The intermediate journal (13, 33) is supported to a fixed support beam (P) external to the spreader roll by an intermediate bearing (60, 70).

  • Patent number: 7264692
Abstract: The operation of a doctor assembly (16) in a paper machine is monitored. In case of a malfunction, the paper machine's (10) control devices (14-14?, 15) are used to carry out the necessary measures for eliminating the malfunction and carrying out repair and/or protective measures. In addition, detector devices (20) are arranged in connection with the doctor assembly (16), to detect a malfunction. The detector devices (20) are connected to the control devices (14, 14?, 15) of the paper machine (10), in order to carry out the said measures automatically. The invention also relates to doctor assemblies in a paper machine for implementing the method.

  • Patent number: 6821237
Abstract: The object of the invention is a thermoroll for a paper/board machine or a finishing machine, the said thermoroll comprising a shell (2; 4, 5) of metallic, ceramic or composite material, the shell incorporating ducts (3; 9) for passing a heating medium from one axial end of the shell to its opposite end. The shell is made by means of casting or powder metallurgical methods, and the ducts (3; 9) are formed in the matrix material of the shell which is of metal and/or ceramic, directly in connection with manufacture. A further object of the invention is a method for manufacturing a thermoroll.

  • Patent number: 6749725
Abstract: A blade holder for a doctor and method for using the doctor is disclosed, in which in the front part there is a throat or similar for the doctor blade of the doctor and which blade holder has loading members connected thereto to press the doctor blade against the surface to be doctored. The blade holder further includes a relatively stiff, slightly flexible frame plate, which incorporates the attachment flange. The blade holder also includes loading devices for directing the force of the loading members onto the frame plate at a distance from the attachment flange, to bend the frame plate and thus press the doctor blade against the surface to be doctored.

  • Patent number: 6592503
Abstract: A roll has a continuous tubular roll shell (11) of a composite material and axle journals (12) rotating together with the roll shell and joined to each end of the roll shell. The axle journals are supported on a supporting element (13) surrounding the axle journal (12) by at least two bearing elements (14, 15) located at a distance from each other in the axial direction (X—X) of the roll, which supporting element (13) for its part is supported on the machine frame structures (R). The first bearing element (14, 15) is supported on the supporting element (13) through a bending mechanism (20, 21), which is used for applying to the first bearing element (14, 15) a force affecting in a radial direction in order to deflect the first bearing element (14, 15) in relation to the central axis (X—X) of the unbent roll, whereby the axle journal (12) will bend in relation to a pivot point which is formed at the second bearing element (14, 15) and a bending moment is applied to the roll shell (11).

  • Patent number: 6524227
Abstract: A roll that can be bent for a web-like material, which roll comprises a continuous tubular roll mantle (11) of composite material as well as axle journals (12) connected to each end of the roll mantle (11). The axle journals (12) are attached by means of at least one mechanism (30), by whose means the axle journals (12) and thereby the roll mantle (11) are bent into an arc form, and a regulation device (40) by whose means the angular position of the roll arc can be regulated.

  • Patent number: 6521092
Abstract: A beam with a continuous body (11) of a composite material has end pieces (13) fitted at each end of the body (11) and axle journals (12) fitted on the end pieces (13). Each axle journal (12) is supported on the frame constructions of the machine by means of a support construction (15, 20, 21, 30, 31, 100), in which there are bearing members (21, 31) fitted at a distance from one another in the longitudinal direction of the axle journal (12). The bearing members (21, 31) are fitted in bearing housings (20, 30), and a bending mechanism (40, 50, 60) is fitted in the support construction (15, 20, 30, 100), by which a torque is applied that bends the body (11) of the beam. The beam may support doctor blades, various measurement devices, induction devices, and coating devices.
