Publication number: 20140089141Abstract: A method of identifying potential trades within a database holding details of individuals and items that these individuals are willing to give away, “Haves”, and/or to receive, “Wants”. The database is searched to identify matching Haves and Wants and to define a directed edge linking the each match. An edge weight can be determined for the directed edge defined for each match and, for one of said individuals possessing a Have, identifying potential n-way trades for the individual by identifying a directed edge or directed edges originating at the individual's Have and/or by connecting two or more directed edges including at least a directed edge originating at the individual's Have, where n is an integer greater than 1. A trade weight is determined on the basis of the or each associated link weight and the potential trades ranked according to the respective trade weights.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2011Publication date: March 27, 2014Applicant: NET-CYCLER OYInventors: Janne Savukoski, Juha Koponen

Publication number: 20080096002Abstract: Coated paper product and method and apparatus for the production thereof. The paper product comprises a base paper, the porosity of which is at least 300 ml/min (Bentsen) and at least one side of which is coated with a pigment-bearing coating layer. The coating layer according to the present invention comprises a homogeneous film, which is formed of binder and pigments and which is brought onto the surface of the base paper using curtain coating so that the variation of the grammage of the layer is less than 5%, and so that the coating layer is not penetrated into the base paper, in which case the coating layer covers at least 95% of the surface of the base paper. By means of the present invention such a good coverage is achieved that the porosity of the base paper does not affect the gloss or smoothness of the coated paper, nor how the paper functions as a printing base.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2005Publication date: April 24, 2008Inventors: Markku Leskela, Stina Nygard, Juha Koponen

Patent number: 7177277Abstract: A system and method for optimizing Internet data transmission so that end-user experience is the best possible. The invention has at least one class set for estimating the network load, wherein each class set consists of classes. The method estimates the network load by each class of the class set. The estimation may be based on counting retransmission requests or packet acknowledgements related to class sets. For example, a class set may consist of classes so that there is a class per each cell of the network. Then the method detects which packets cause a lot of retransmission requests and thus a lot of retransmissions. The method can intelligently target its acceleration actions to certain packets. Four new acceleration actions can be used together with the prior art acceleration actions to accelerate the network traffic.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2001Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: First Hop OyInventors: Juha Koponen, Janne Kalliola, Hannu Mallat, Hannu Kari

Publication number: 20060034303Abstract: A system can be located in a communication network in which it handles several simultaneous sessions and transmits messages between end nodes. The system identifies a type of transaction belonging to a session. The transaction type identified is mapped to a token that belongs to an input alphabet of an automaton. The system inputs the said token into the automaton that is preferably a deterministic finite-state automaton. According to a response of the automaton, the system performs a set of predefined tasks. Those tasks may concern analysing the use of a service, charging of an end-user, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2005Publication date: February 16, 2006Applicant: FIRST HOP LTD.Inventors: Teemu Ikonen, Juha Koponen

Publication number: 20040235503Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing messages relate to controlling, filtering and directing SMS—(short message service) and corresponding messages. In a user-specific way. According to the method and apparatus, SMS—(short message service) messages and/or MMS—(multimedia messaging service) messages are processed in a gateway and the invention comprises the steps of classifying the messages, based on their characteristics and processing the classified messages based on processing code that takes the classification into account. The step of processing the classified messages comprises directing the messages further according to the processing instructions.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2004Publication date: November 25, 2004Inventors: Juha Koponen, Teemu Ikonen, Harri Jaalinoia
