  • Patent number: 7171224
Abstract: A method and an arrangement are disclosed for resetting a communication connection between a first communication device and a second communication device in a cellular radio system. Firstly, there is detected the need for resetting the communication connection. There is transmitted from the first communication device to the second communication device a first piece of information indicating the need for resetting the communication connection. A resetting procedure is performed at the second communication device, and there is transmitted from the second communication device to the first communication device a second piece of information indicating the completion of the resetting procedure with respect to the second communication device.

  • Publication number: 20050250504
Abstract: A method, user terminal and network entity sets up channels in a wireless communications network by receiving a broadcast message including at least one predefined radio configuration at a user terminal. The method also includes receiving a configuration message from a network controller at the user terminal. The configuration message includes an indication to configure the user terminal to adopt the predefined radio configuration for a new transmission channel. The method also includes indicating that the user terminal is configured to transmit data to the network controller according to the predefined radio configuration.

  • Patent number: 6950420
Abstract: Active and inactive segmentation states are defined for transparent mode for a radio access network (RAN) interfacing with a core network (CN) and a user equipment (UE). If transparent mode is valid on the Iu-interface between the RAN and the CN, then an inactive segmentation state indicates to peer (UE/RAN) segmentation and reassembly (SAR) entities such as at the radio link control (RLC) layer that segmentation is blocked in the UTRAN, over the Uu-interface, and in the UE so that TTIs with periodicities greater than the minimum transmission interval may be utilized, except over said Iu-interface.

  • Patent number: 6862450
Abstract: Reset of one or more state variables of a User Equipment (UE) RLC layer is carried out by signaling reset from a radio link control layer of a source radio network controller (RNC) to a radio link control layer of the UE during a seamless control relocation procedure in which a possible loss of synchronization and consequent disruption in communication between the UE and a target RNC is avoided.

Abstract: A method and an arrangement are disclosed for resetting a communication connection between a first communication device and a second communication device in a cellular radio system. Firstly, there is detected (201, 404, 501, 604) the need for resetting the communication connection. There is transmitted (202, 408, 408′, 502, 607, 219, 519) from the first communication device to the second communication device a first piece of information (203, 210, 503, 510) indicating the need for resetting the communication connection. A resetting procedure (205, 422, 505, 512, 621) is performed at the second communication device, and there is transmitted (206, 213, 424, 506, 513, 623, 623′) from the second communication device to the first communication device a second piece of information (207, 214, 507, 514) indicating the completion of the resetting procedure with respect to the second communication device.
