  • Patent number: 6533899
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for conveying and guiding a lead-in strip in a paper machine, which device comprises a conveyor belt (20) which is permeable to air and in whose connection devices (15) are fitted by whose means a vacuum effect can be produced on the run (20A) of the conveyor belt (20) on which the lead-in strip is conveyed, by means of which vacuum effect the lead-in strip is made to adhere to and kept in contact with said run (20A) of the conveyor belt (20). On said conveying run (20A) of the conveyor belt (20), on the opposite side of the conveyor belt (20) in relation to the lead-in strip, a foil rib/ribs (15) is/are fitted, by whose means said vacuum effect is produced on the conveying run (20A) of the conveyor belt (20).

  • Patent number: 6290817
Abstract: A device for conveying and guiding a lead-in strip in a paper machine which includes a conveyor formed of an air permeable material, the conveyor having a run with opposed faces on respective sides. The lead-in strip is conveyed on a first face on a first side of the run. The device also includes a foil rib located on a second side of the run of the conveyor. The foil rib includes a foil head for producing a vacuum effect on an outlet side of the foil head in the direction of movement of the run.

  • Patent number: 5943788
Abstract: An arrangement for a drying cylinder in a paper/board machine including a steam, condensate and/or water coupling. The coupling includes a steam pipe through which steam is passed into an interior of the drying cylinder, a condensate pipe through which condensate is removed from the interior of the drying cylinder, a unitary coupling frame arranged in connection with an end of the cylinder and including an exhaust connection coupled to the condensate pipe, an annular groove arranged in a face of the coupling frame facing toward the drying cylinder, and at least one spring socket opening into the annular groove, the arrangement also includes a revolving axle arranged at one end of the drying cylinder through which the steam and condensate pipes are passed, a bearing housing for rotatably supporting the axle, a piston arranged in the annular groove of the coupling frame, and at least one spring arranged in a respective spring socket of the coupling frame to press the piston against a portion of the axle.

  • Patent number: 5907909
Abstract: A coupling in connection with a paper/board machine, preferably a steam, condensate and/or water coupling. The coupling frame has an exhaust connection for condensate or water in an end thereof and includes an annular groove into which a piston is placed. One or more springs are placed between the end of the piston and the bottom of a respective spring socket in the coupling frame and act upon the piston. The frame includes fastening members for fixing the frame to a bearing housing of the cylinder or to a part connected therewith.

  • Patent number: 5587052
Abstract: An apparatus and method for tensioning a fabric in a paper machine, such as a press felt, a drying wire, or an equivalent fabric, including a tensioning roll arranged inside a loop of the fabric. Bearing supports of the roll are fixed, at the driving side and at the operating side of the machine, to sledges. These sledges are displaced by a motor, synchronously in relation to one another, so as to tighten the fabric that runs over the tensioning roll to a certain tension. The sledges are arranged in connection with the frame part of the machine on linear guides, which can be loaded in different directions transverse to the direction of movement of the sledges. In view of displacing the sledges, shafts operated by a motor are journalled on the sledges. The shafts are interconnected by a synchronization shaft between the driving side and the operating side.

  • Patent number: 5500090
Abstract: An apparatus and method for guiding the transverse position of a fabric in a paper machine, such as a drying wire, a press felt, or an equivalent fabric having an alignment roll for the fabric. The axial alignment of the alignment roll is regulated by a guide apparatus. In the guide apparatus, a sledge is arranged in connection with one or both of the bearing supports of the alignment roll. The position of the sledge in relation to the frame part of the apparatus is regulated by an actuator motor. The sledge of the guide apparatus is arranged on linear guides in the frame part of the apparatus and is guided by guides. The apparatus further includes a self-holding power transmission arrangement operated by the actuator motor.

  • Patent number: 5046266
Abstract: Multi-cylinder dryer, has upper cylinder (13,14,15,16) and lower cylinders (10,11,12) over which a paper web (W) to be dried is run in meandering fashion from one cylinder onto the next cylinder. The paper web is in direct contact with each drying cylinder within a sector that is larger than 180.degree.. An upper wire (5) and a lower wire (6) are used to press the paper web against faces of the drying cylinders (10,11,12; 13,14,15,16). The wires (6,5) are guided by guide rolls, which are placed in such a way that the paper web (W) is continuously supported by a wire (5,6) as it runs from one cylinder onto the other. The guide roll arrangements consist of fragmentary rolls (21,51), which are supported on suction boxes (20) and/or on blow boxes (50) so that at least two fragmentary rolls (21,51) are supported on each suction box (20)/blow box (50). By means of the suction boxes (20)/blow boxes (50), blowings (S,P) are directed at the drying wire (5,6).
