  • Patent number: 5319155
Abstract: The duct comprises an inner tube in which the wires are disposed, and this inner duct is placed inside an outer tube so as to provide a continuous inner space between the tubes, which completely surrounds the inner tube. A water inlet is in communication with the inner space and water is allowed to penetrate into the inner space upon the opening of a valve. The valve is operated by a fire detector. Upon activation of the valve in case of fire, water circulates through the inner space and is rejected into a drain. This system constitutes a fire and heat barrier for the wires of a building, for example.

  • Patent number: 5109779
Abstract: A fire insulated partition including inner and outer walls to define an inner space therebetween, water pipes disposed in the inner space and having a plurality of water outlets distributed throughout the inner space to deliver water therein, a water inlet outside the partition and connected to the water pipes to introduce water therein, the water inlet also connected to a source of water, a valve to initiate water circulation in the pipes and into the inner space upon activation by a detector, and a drain to continuously drain water from the inner space after the latter has been filled therewith. A detector provided separate from the valve enables to open the valve in case a fire erupts in the vicinity of the partition. There are blade propellers at the water outlets to distribute entering water substantially against the entire interior surface of the inner and outer walls, and a motor to operate the blade propellers when the detector senses a fire.

  • Patent number: 4310926
Abstract: The invention relates to a suit enabling a person while wearing it to walk through high temperature flames and fire. The suit according to the invention comprises an inner impermeable flexible sheet material shaped to cover the entire body of a person, and at least one outer permeable flexible sheet material substantially shaped as the inner sheet material. The inner sheet material and the one or more outer sheet materials are combined together to form a multi-ply assembly adapted to be worn by this person. This multi-ply assembly therefore includes hood or bonnet, arms, trunk and leg portions. By means of an inlet, water is continuously introduced under pressure into the multi-ply assembly between the inner sheet material and the outer permeable sheet material(s). An outlet enables the water to continuously exit from between the inner sheet material and the outer permeable sheet material(s) after having circulated therebetween.
