Abstract: This invention relates to a signal warning light device designed to be mounted on the roof of an emergency vehicle. Normally this device, in use, would appear to be a frame holding a line of lights across the top of the vehicle. However, at the scene of an emergency, under control of the driver, bars pivoted at the two ends of the frame would be automatically swiveled upward. When raised fully, the bars would appear vertical and with its vertical array of lights woudl provide approaching drivers with an advanced warning. By limiting the movement of one bar to an acute angle and not fully raising the other bar the effect of a pointing arrow or spear head would be obtained. Thus by selectively controlling the bars to be raised, traffic could be directed to proceed left or right or if the both bars were raised partially, signals to stop, slow as well as right and left may be given. Sequential flashing of the bar mounted lights would emphasize the message when directed toward the "point".

Abstract: Apparatus for warning workers on electrified railroad tracks that the third rail is live having visual and/or aural alarms, sensing electrodes or contactors for deriving power for activating alarms from the third rail, and circuits for providing visual and/or aural alarms indicating that the contactors have not made proper contact with the rails to assure the workers that the warning apparatus is properly operating as a high voltage protector.

Abstract: A lighting device for a room environment, in a form of a table, ceiling or swag unitary fixture, provides primary illumination for general living and working activities within the space of a room, subject to the on-off control of persons therein; flashing illumination occurring at repetition rates designated for alerting persons, including individuals having impaired hearing abilities, to specific fire, burglar or other alarm conditions, responsive to local or supervised control sensors; and supplemental signaling illumination for communicating instructional information.

Abstract: A charging rack for charging an auxiliary battery from the electrical system of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The rack is connected to the electrical systems of the internal combustion engine and a module which houses the battery to be charged. The charging rack is intended for use with a vehicle internal combustion engine which includes a battery and an ignition switch. The charging circuit includes a diode and a switch connected across the diode which in operation enable the battery to be charged to its full nominal voltage which may be equal to the nominal voltage while preventing discharge of the battery to be charged into the electrical system of the internal combustion engine, particularly when the engine is being started. Use of the system is applied to portable hand lights is also described.

Abstract: A reading lamp is constructed with electronic lamps which offer an opportunity to provide a variety of colors and shades of white light with a minimum of emitted heat. The electronic lamps can be disposed in an alternating pattern about an incandescent lamp or concentric rings of electronic lamps of different colors can be provided.

Abstract: A flashing visual alarm system for buildings and institutions, having occupants including persons having impaired hearing abilities, is provided with on-site continuous monitoring devices and provisions for periodic operational tests of the strobe or incandescent lamp assembly in each room by an inspector, plus a centralized supervisor's station for the entire building complex where the operating status of each alarm lamp is continually displayed for the maintenance of a reliable and fully operational emergency warning system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a mount for warning lights as generally attached to the tops of vehicles. This mount provides means of holding lights on two horizontal arms on the top of the vehicle but by the rotation of the arms to a vertical position the elevation and hence the effectiveness of the lights is increased. This is accomplished with a minimum of effort but a maximum of reliability.

Abstract: The present invention has reference to a voltage control circuit for a battery operated device. Such circuits are adapted for use in connection with buoys, signal lights, vehicles and other devices where exhaustion, internal resistance, polarization or other factors would cause a drop in voltage during use. The loss in power is minimal.
