  • Patent number: 10249161
Abstract: A magnetic field sensor comprises a power source, an indicator and a microprocessor. The power source supplies current to the indicator. The indicator turns on when a magnetic field is sensed and the indicator turns off when a magnetic field is not sensed. The microprocessor renders the indicator inoperable a predetermined period of time after the magnetic field sensor is powered up.

  • Publication number: 20050024207
Abstract: A compact size wireless sensor for sensing a change of state that includes a sensor switch, a microprocessor, a wireless transmitter, a timer (e.g., a low power clock circuit), an antenna, and a coin cell battery power source. The coin cell battery, which is positioned in a stacking arrangement with the microprocessor, switch, and transmitter, allows the sensor to be of a significantly reduced size. Moreover, to provide long life despite a small battery, the microprocessor is run in a standby mode in which the microprocessor draws little power unless it actually samples the state of the sensor switch during select intervals. Various electronic components individually, or in combination, assist in the sampling (monitoring mode) in such a way as to reduce current consumption from the power source. The compact size makes the sensor ideally applicable for wireless intrusion systems embedded within hollow frames of windows and doors.

  • Patent number: 6737969
Abstract: An wireless security sensor system includes a window frame defining a window opening, a window sash movable relative to the window frame between open and closed positions; and a sensor unit embedded in the window frame. The sensor unit includes a housing having an inner end within the window frame, an outer end at a surface of the window frame and a flexible ¼ wave wire antenna extending e.g. longitudinally of the window frame from the housing. The housing contains a sensor switch, a microprocessor, and RF transmitter and a battery for emitting signals to a master station or controller and the wireless security sensor system includes a magnet mounted in the window sash for actuating the sensor switch. The window frame is made from a plastics material extrusion having a hollow interior and the housing has a peripheral flange at the outer end thereof which is seated on the surface of the window frame.

  • Patent number: 5904020
Abstract: A translucent construction block assembly, e.g. for a window or wall panel of non-standard size and/or shape, has a frame extending around an array of hollow translucent construction blocks assembled in horizontal and vertical juxtaposition, the blocks each having front and rear walls connected by a peripheral wall and the array having a periphery engaged by the frame so that the blocks are thereby retained in position. The blocks include partial blocks having openings interrupting the peripheral walls thereof, the partial blocks being juxtaposed with the openings at the periphery of the array. A seal of resilient material interposed between the array and the frame extends between the front and rear walls and closes the openings.

  • Patent number: 5687521
Abstract: A translucent block assembly, for use in a decorative wall, window or the like in a building, has a connector extrusion for connecting juxtaposed translucent blocks in an opening of a frame having a recess extending around the opening. The connector extrusion has an alignment projection fitting snugly into gaps in the peripheries of the blocks for aligning the blocks and abutment faces for abutment with the blocks, and also has outwardly facing side faces engaging snugly in the recess.

  • Patent number: 4891925
Abstract: A construction block comprising a generally rectangular hollow body having a pair of faces joined by side edges. There are spacing flanges extending about the side edges around the perimeter of the block adjacent and essentially parallel to the faces to ensure correct spacing of the blocks when arranged in a wall construction. Cavities for connecting adjacent blocks together are provided at each corner of the block. There is a spanning member having ends adapted for engagement in the cavities of adjacent blocks in order to connect blocks into a unified wall structure.
