  • Patent number: 8215085
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of preparing a web of flexible material for production of receptacles for packaging. The method comprises the steps of feeding a web of flexible material past a succession of stations in which operations are carried out on the web including defining blanks for receptacles having walls and tabs by creating fold lines in the web, and then laminating a film of heat-sealable plastics materials to a face of the web of the flexible material. The film of heat-sealable plastics provides a heat-sealable surface on the web for bonding tabs of each blank together to form seams between adjacent walls whereby the blanks, when severed from the web, can be erected to form receptacles having openings to receive items to be packaged.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 29, 2007
Date of Patent: July 10, 2012
    Assignee: Rapid Action Packaging Limited
Inventors: Quang Tien Phung, Fernanda Costa Pereira, Julian David Kyrle Money

  • Patent number: 7597238
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a carton for a diagonally cut sandwich or like foodstuff formed from a blank of card and having triangular end walls connected by rectangular side walls to form a triangular prism-shaped container. One side wall of the container is hinged to another wall of the container to provide an opening for insertion/removal of foodstuff and to form a lid for closing the opening. The edges of the opening have out-turned flanges and the periphery of the lid overlies the out-turned flanges encircling the opening when the lid is in the closed position whereby the lid can be bonded to the flanges to seal the contents of the carton.

  • Patent number: 6335042
Abstract: A food pack comprising a tray formed from card having a rectangular base with fold up side and end walls and a sheet of wrapping material extending over the tray and adhered to the side walls to receive a food item. The sheet is folded over the item across the tray and the folded ends of the sheet projecting from the ends of the tray are tucked between the base of the tray and the sheet extending across the base. The end walls of the tray have convexly curved fold lines with the base of the tray whereby the end walls of the tray are folded upwardly with respect to the base to enclose the wrapped food item with the side walls.

  • Patent number: 6016950
Abstract: A wrapper for an article includes a sheet of wrapping material folded to form a flat sleeve with an out-turned seam formed by edge portions of the sleeve extending along the center of one side of the sleeve. The edge portions are secured together at the ends of the sleeve and the sides of the sleeve are secured together along a line or lines which define, in a central region of the sleeve, the periphery of an enclosure. The enclosure can be opened by separating the edges of the seam in the central region of the sleeve to receive an article and then be closed together and the end portions of the sleeve wrapped around the article contained in the central region of the sleeve. A method is also described.

  • Patent number: 5921681
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a pack for articles of food or other merchandise comprising a bag (30) and a carton form (40) for supporting a lower part of the bag having a base (41) with a central fold line (32) and walls (43) hinged to the base along further fold lines (44) to enable the carton and bag to be folded flat and to be erected to open the bag. The side walls of the lower part of the bag are secured to the side walls of the carton so that when the carton is erected by opening the folded base into a V-form, the bottom part of the bag is opened, and, as the V-form is progressively widened, the bag is tensioned by the walls moving apart until the base of the carton moves "over center" and inverts to brace the lower part of the bag open to receive an article or articles to be packed therein.
